Newspaper Review
The important issue in this article is that America is still in danger of more terrorist attacks from Osama Bin Laden's terrorist group. The other issue is that Osama Bin Laden may have been killed in a bombing last week.
The newspaper article is from the Herald Sun.
The article was printed on the 8-2-2002.
This article came in through a Washington agency.
The main characters involved are Osama Bin Laden and George Tenet.
US Still on Terrorist Lists.
George Tenet, the director of the CIA, has told the Senate Intelligence Committee that America is still under threat from terrorist attacks and that it should prepare to raise security. He also believes that weapons of mass destruction may be used on America in the future.
The media trampled each other to ask Mr Tenet whether a high ranking al-Qaeda (Osama Bin Laden's terrorist group) official was killed in the recent southeastern Afghanistan bombing. One of the people killed in the attack was taller than the others and they are wondering whether Bin Laden himself was killed. Bin Laden is on the FBI's list of terrorists and his height is listed as two metres. The people killed were believed to be a group of al-Qaeda seniors meeting near a cave. The missile was dropped in Zawar Khili where people think that Bin Laden and his senior leaders were hiding.
It is believed that some terrorists have left Afghanistan and may reform in Somalia and Indonesia. Iran and Iraq are also countries that encourage terrorism. My opinion on the issue is that Bin Laden and his terrorist buddies must be stopped at all costs. Some sacrifices may have to be made but we cannot risk terrorists attacking more U.S buildings or people or the allies of America..
