My grandparents took me in when I was 2 years old and also my brother, Jason. I was raised around my father, George and my uncle, Joe (who was a Vietnam Vet) and my youngest uncle, Michael. My grandfather, Bernard also served in the military in the Korean war. He took me to be baptised at a Catholic church when I was four months old. My grandmother, Eva was a Baptist but they took turns taking us from Catholic to Baptist church until my grandfather died. I was four years old, he died from Polycyctsic Kidney Disease. My uncles served as my father figures. Joe was a hard core Harley Davidson man, he had a beautiful black, chromed out hawg. He would come over and take Jason and I for rides and he always played Santa Claus for us at Christmas.
My family was very dysfunctional but I guess all families are?! You're probably wandering why my parents didn't raise me, well they were victims of the serious drugs from the 70's and were diagnosed with Manic Depression Schizophrenia. Needless to say I have first hand experience and knowledge about that disease. I was in contact with my mom and dad throughout my life until I got married and left home at 16. My family though, has a very special ancestry. My grandpa, my dad and my uncles were registered with Turtle Mountain Chippewa Indian Reservation due to a long drawn out settlement over land that was taken from our ancestors by the government.
Back to the kidney disease though, my dad died February 1993 and my uncle, Joe died July 1994. Both of their deaths related to kidney disease and both of them dying in their early 40's. And my loving grandmother died in December 1997. So with that ...I still have my brother, Jason who I love and cherish so much. But he was diagnosed with diabetes at 19 years old. My paternal family left is my uncle, Michael. He's 10 years older than me. And my mom, Cherri and her parents (my maternal grandparents) they are alive also along with alot of aunts, uncles and cousins. I leave this site in dedication and in memory to my relatives who have passed and to my children who will carry on my legacy.
