Purim  (Feast of Lots)
Purim is the celebration of  the salvation of the Jews.  The story goes that King Ahashverosh had an advisor named Haman.  Haman did not like the Jews because they did not try to assimilate or bow to the secular authorities.  So, Haman told the King to have all the Jews killed.

The kings main love by the name of Ester, the neice of Mordahai(who had saved the kings life previously) went to King Ahashverosh and begged him not to kill the Jews.

King Ahashverosh listened to Ester and order Haman killed instead.  Thus, the Jews were saved.

There are many theories on why people dress up for this holiday.  Many say that Ester never told anyone she was Jewish.  So, she was "hiding" her true self.  Then when threatened she chose to expose herself.  Therefore, people dress up like Ester.
This festival is quite special in the Jewish religion because it is the only holiday where you are ordered to get drunk as possible.  This is because on this day   you are suppose to have so much fun that you forget yourself...you no longer recognize yourself. Amazingly, drinking can do that!
We went  to a red theme party
We had fun at school dressing up for Purim!  I was a ladybug   and Jodi was..well you take a guess.
