JF: Before the shoot, did you even know who Jessica Andrews was? Be honest!

GR: "First of all, I'm in a rock band and love rock music so I wasn't a big fan of country music at all. However, I was familiar with Jessica. I used to sit at home late at night and browse through the country channels. One night I was watching GAC and I saw Jessica's video for 'Unbreakable Heart' and thought it was a great song and she could sing very well. That was the first time I've ever heard of her and I was hooked! Because of Jessica my mind has been totally open to a lot of different country artists.
At the audition for the video, there were a few guys there who didn't know who she was and I could not believe it! One guy asked me who she was and I said, 'You don't know who Jessica Andrews is? I don't even listen or watch country music and I know who she is!'"

JF: Did anything funny or unusual happen on the set?

GR: "Hell yeah! We spent a good portion of the day in the little boat together and that in itself was rough! I accidently hit a couple of trees because we had to turn the boat around to do different shots in the swamp and the waterway was very narrow. I hit one tree so hard that Jessica almost fell out of her seat onto the floor of the boat! I was a little embarassed!
We had to do the rain scene, which was at the end of the video about five times and for the very last shot, I was getting out of the boat to give Jessica a kiss and my feet came out from under me and I fell on my back because it was very slippery! When I fell, the entire cast and crew erupted into laughter. The assistant director dropped his head and said, 'That's a wrap!' Again, I was a little embarassed, but I was relieved when I saw they didn't put that part in the video!"

JF: How long did this shoot actually last?

GR: "Call time for hair and makeup was at 6:30 a.m., which meant that I would have to oup and on the road to the shoot at 2:30 a.m. and we wrapped the shoot at about 8:30-8:45, so it was a one day shoot."

JF: How did Jessica react to the alligators and birds in the video? We heard it was a funny story!

GR: "She was very scared of them! I didn't actually see the bird that I pointed to nor did I see the alligator in the video. The entire time Jessica was singing, I wasn't anywhere around, so I'm sure she saw more alligators then I did. However, while driving Jessica around in the boat, I did see one alligator right on the side of our very little boat, but I didn't tell Jessica because I didn't want want to freak her out!"

JF: Did you tune into the world premiere of "Helplessly, Hopelessly" on MWL?

GR: "Yes I did! I was thrilled that she remembered my name! Let's face it, when you're as famous as she is, I'm sure she meets tons of people every day, so I was very impressed that she remembered my name!"
