Behind the Head Shot Brad Schmitt, staff writer February 22, 2003 Jessica is a rare breed: a hometown girl from Huntingdon, pop. 4,349, in West Tennessee who ended up on a big record label. No, she's not Rosemary's granddaughter, but Jessica is a successful artist who's putting out her third album before she turns 20. Among her true loves: iced tea, her singer-songwriter boyfriend, Marcel, and a relaxing pedicure. Brad Schmitt, Staff Writer Five deserted-island discs 1. Mercury Falling, Sting. I'm a huge, huge Sting fan. I love his writing. He's an amazing lyricist and his melodies . . . 2. Ten Summoner's Tales, Sting. There are a lot of really awesome songs. 3. Best of 1980-1990, U2. They're just a great rock band. I love Bono's voice, the Edge's guitar playing. I could listen to it every day. I listen to that when I'm cleaning. I need some get-go music. 4. The Woman in Me, Shania Twain. I love so many tracks on that album. I was blown away by how great that album was when it came out. The title track, Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore). I just love that record. 5. You, Me and the Windshield, Marcel (Jessica's boyfriend). I'd always have to have that with me if I was going to be by myself. The very last song on the album is called Diesel. His best stuff is yet to come. Five things/people I couldn't live without 1. Cell phone. I'm so happy we have cell phones. When I'm away from family or Marcel, that's how I stay in touch. I can't imagine not having it. 2. Pedicures/manicures. I would be up a creek without someone to do that. You wouldn't believe how bad I screw up my nails. I love, love, love getting those. 3. 2000 Lexus LX 300. I'd hate to not have a car. It's so comfortable and the stereo is really great, and it's got heated seats! I love, love that! 4. Iced tea. The good iced tea in the South. Sweet or unsweetened, I do both. I spent a few days in the Northeast drinking water and Coke. Bah. Iced tea is the perfect medium. 5. Music. I'd drive myself crazy if I couldn't hear songs. Three sexiest people alive 1. James Dean. No one's cuter than my boyfriend, Marcel. But James Dean. I had a song on my first album, James Dean in Tennessee. And people started sending me James Dean pictures and calendars and I'm, like, oh, how sexy is he. That classic sexy look. 2. Sting. Absolutely Sting. He's one of the sexiest men ever. For his age, he's amazing. Great looking. Something about his inner peace. He doesn't have to try to be sexy; he is. There's something about him doing yoga, there's something to see him be in touch with that. 3. Johnny Depp. I like the bad-boy look where they're not so clean-cut. They're mysterious. It's all about men who don't have to try. He's got natural sexiness. There's something intriguing about him. |
