Maria [Grand Rapids, MI]
[July 24, 2005]

I was really lucky to see this concert because of someone who told me about it on the board a few days before it. (thanks so much!). The show started at 2:30, and I had to work till 12. It was a real tight race to get there because I live a few hours away. My brother came with me, but my best friend couldn't come. I raced home from work, called my brother, and we were off to the concert. It was storming rain and it was cold all morning in my area. I really thought I may not be able to go because of the weather because it was awful! But as we came closer to the concert, the weather cleared up, and it was so sunny and hot! It turned into like 90 degree weather in ten minutes! It was better than rain though. Anyways, we're getting closer to the show, but we're getting to be late too. We were probably 20 minutes late when we got there; but they must have knew we were coming because they didn't start yet! They started about 5 minutes after we got there. So my brother and I found some seats in the fifth row or so. We were so close to the stage, I couldn't believe it! It was awesome! It was at a real nice park with a friendly atmosphere (much better than the Detroit show. lol). There were a lot of people, but it wasn't really that crowded either.

So anyways, the band started playing and Jessica came out. Everyone was cheering, and she started singing. I was so excited that I don't even remember the song she sang first. It was really good though, and her band was just awesome! She played around 11-12 songs. From her past albums, she sang in no particular order "helplessly, hopelessly (my fav!), "karma" (a kind of cool slower version), "Now I know", "When Gentry Plays Guitar", "There's More to Me Than You", "Good Time", and of course finished the show off with "Who I Am". I don't know the name of her new songs, but I'm guessing they are called "I need a man", "That's who I was" (Jessica calls it a follow up of "Who I Am"..I LOVED it! I hope it's a single!), and "Summer Girl"! She also covered an old song that she heard on the radio recently. I knew the song, but I don't know who sings it or what it's called. Jessica sang it beautifully though.

When she sang "Summer Girl", she told all the summer girls to stand up and help her sing. I stood up and held my sign that said "I'm just a summer girl", but I didn't hold it long. As I looked around, all the girls were on the other side of the stage. I was the only standing on my side. lol. It was pretty funny. I'm really shy, so I just sat back down in the middle of the song. My brother wasn't going to stand up with me in "summer girl". lol. It was so fun though, and everyone was singing along with Jessica. Jessica seems like such a nice person. She talks on stage like she's talking to you one on one. She seems like a real down-to-earth person. She was always saying how it's so cold outside, even though it was super hot. lol. She said that it's all in your head.

After the amazing show, Jessica was signing stuff people were handing to her on stage. My brother and I ran up to the stage to get our CD's signed. It was so cool! I couldn't believe it! It was so nice of her to do that. After the show, we just hung around for a little bit. Jessica was doing meet-and-greets after for the fan club. I could have kicked myself because I forgot my fan club card. I just forgot about it from leaving so fast after work. I was in too much of a rush to remember anything. I asked some people if I could still meet her, but I couldn't. One guy almost got me in, but not quite. I appreciate them for trying though. This one fan was talking to us about all the country stars he met, and he showed us his pictures. He had nothing but good things to say about Jessica. He said to just wait here so they let you in, but I didn't want to be like a stalker or something. lol. We got some autographs after the show, and that alone I'll never forget!

We went back to our car, put the poster up in our back window, and tried to find our way home without a map that we forgot as well. So we're driving all over in circles, and we passed Jessica's tour bus twice! lol. It was so cool. I wonder if they were lost too. We ate at a Cracker Barrel on the way home. On the back of the reciept they ask for comments. We wrote "We just saw Jessica Andrews in concert and got her autograph! It was AWESOME!"

It was the best concert I've ever been too! Thanks so much for coming out to Michigan Jessica! You and your band were awesome! Best of luck to you and your next album. It's going to do great!

Wow! I can't tell you how great of an artist Jessica is, especially when she sings live! My whole family went to the hoedown in Detroit. I've never been to a hoedown before, so I didn't know what to expect. When we got there, they were moving the stage to a higher location, which was a little far away from the people. The first stage was a lot closer. We found a place to stand closest to stage.

Jimmy Wayne went on stage when we got there before Jessica. Jimmy did a great job. He's real good with the guitar. Then they announced Jessica's name, I was still in shock that I was actually going to see Jessica. They started off with "Sunshine and Love", and it really got everybody excited. The music sounded AWESOME, and then Jessica came on stage and I was like OMG, this is so cool! She made a great appearance and waved hi to everyone around stage. She used the whole stage, which got everyone involved. Other songs she sang were "wishing well", "I don't like anyone", "Now I know". I was hoping she'd sing "helplessly, hopelessly", and she did! I was so excited. That's my fav song, and she did an outstanding job! Off her new album, she also sang "TMTMTY", "I wish for you" (that was awesome!), and "Good time". Then she sang some songs that were not her own. She sang "Forgiveness?" by the eagles I believe it was and "Chain of fools". "Chain of fools" was by far the best performance of the night. I LOVED it! She finished the night with "Who I am", which was upsetting because that was her last song. Time flew by so fast! I had such a blast! Jimmy Wayne was watching some of the show too. He was really diggin' your music!

Thanks so much Jessica for coming to Michigan! That was indeed the best day of my life, and I'll never forget it. You're music is awesome, and I hope you continue to stay in the music for a long time. It wouldn't be the same without you! Come back to michigan again sometime.

I attended the St. Judes benifit show last night in Baton Rouge, La. at the LSU Assembly Center. The meet and greet was about 2 hours before Jessica went on-stage. There were 4 of us waiting to go to the downstairs gym to see Jess. I was the first one to walk into the gym and I notice as soon as I saw her that she had lost a-lot of weight, she looked awesome! I also notice that she has a ring on her left hand with a diamond in it (on her ring finger). I introduced myself to her, even though I've met her 4 times before, and she shook my hand and was very polite. She signed a = 29 back-stage pass I had with me, and then we posed for a picture together. We talked for a little while about where I had met her before. I told her at her fan club party last year, and in her home town of Huntingdon,Tn back in Feb 02, Jackson,Miss in Jan 02, and Birmimingham '01. She shook my hand and said "it was a pleasure to meet you". Marcel was there talking with other fans, and trying to tie a bunch of balloons to the back of Jessica's pants.

Then I noticed a guy walk up to her and talk to her, and found out that it was Garrett Reed from the "Helplessly Hopelessly" video. He had a bunch of photos and picture proofs from the video shoot and was showing them to Jess, and she was autographing some of them. They were talking about the video shoot and how hard it was shooting in the swamp and the alligators around them. Then Jess asked "in what smamp in Sidell was it shot in"? Garrett's father answer "Honey Well swamp" (I think that's what he called it) I took some very good pictures of them standing together, talking and posing for the camera. Other fans starting coming down to meet with Jessica, and I stood there for about 10 minutes just watching and enjoying every minute.

The show was a little late getting started because of the number of acts that performed ahead of her that night. Jessica started with a new song that was up-beat and sounded cool....but I didn't hear her mention a title. She did sing a slow version of a new song that Marcel and her wrote just last week called "More to Me". If I'm not mistaken that's the title. It is a fantastic song, and was the first time it was performed in public. She ended the night with "Who I Am" and also did the song "Chain of Fools."

Thank you Jessica for everything...Awesome Show, keep up the great work! See ya at Bayfest in Mobile, Ala. Oct 4.

It was a Marcel thing, but Jessica sang "who I am" and it was sweet to see her sing that.
