Project Information

Timeline:

You will have three weeks to complete this assignment (8 class periods).

Class 1: Turn in “Identifying Major Themes” Handout

Class 2: Turn in “Compare and Contrast” Handout

Classes 3-6: Work on final project.

Classes 7-8: Presentations and final journals.

If you decide to film a scene from your modern version, here are the necessary elements:

  1. The scene must involve the four main characters that you described on your two handouts.
  2. It must be at least 10 minutes long and cannot exceed 15 minutes.
  3. It must clearly indicate the setting in which the scene takes place.
  4. Characters must be in costume.
  5. At the end of your screening, one member will explain how the main themes of the written text are portrayed in your “modernized” version, including specific support from the scene itself.

If you decide to create a storyboard on PowerPoint, here are the necessary elements:

  1. The storyboard must describe a scene that involves the four main characters that you described on your handouts.
  2. It must be at least 15 slides long and cannot exceed 20.
  3. It must include a slide that clearly describes the setting in which your scene will take place.
  4. It must include a slide that clearly describes the costumes your characters will wear (written descriptions or photographs are appropriate).
  5. At the end of your screening, one member will explain how the main themes of the written text are portrayed in your “modernized” version, including specific support from the scene itself.

A “Rubric” for your final project grade is attached along with a worksheet to help you focus your efforts as you plan your scene (if completed thoroughly, can be added to final grade as extra credit points).  If your group has any questions, please ask.  You will also receive participation grades for each day, so make sure you’re always working and not just trying to pull it together the last class.
