Lesson Plan and Activity Ideas

Semana 2: Preparar Comida
- Review Activities: The backup review activity is just to read the words from the sheet and have the students tell you what it is (i.e. Cmo se dice Perdn en ingls? students: Excuse me). Youll want to keep going through the ones that people dont remember, until they pretty much have it down. The ideal is to have exciting, interactive activities though.
- Numbers and Letters: For this activity, the students are going to be giving and taking phone numbers. Here is the script for this activity. You might want to write it on the board until the students have it memorized:
Hi, whats your name? [jai uUts ioer neim]
My name is... [mai neim Iz...]
Can you spell that for me? [kn iu spel Dt foer mi]
Sure, its... [sher Its...]
And, whats your number? [nd uUts iour nUmber]
Its... [Its...]
Have them write down a few made up names and numbers on their paper before they start the exercise and then have them check to see if their partner writes them correctly.
- Colors: The idea with these flashcards is to show them all first and to have the students say the word and the color, Green Grillo, Blue Blusa, Grey Granero etc. Next cover the name of the color and have them remember what it was. Finally cover both the name of the color and the name of the picture, so they are just remembering from seeing the picture. After this you can just go around the room pointing at things that are a certain color and having the student tell you what color it is.
- General Review: Now you just need to go over the common phrases. We dont have any activity ideas for these, but if you come up with a good one, send it to us and well add it to the site.
- Pronunciation Activity: r: Go over this together and make sure the students are saying it correctly.
- Pronunciation Activity: d: Go over this together and make sure the students are saying it correctly. Be sure to point out that it's between the sound of the Spanish "d" and "t".
- Week 2: Preparing Food: Go over these together. Again, have the students say the words first. Explain the chart for temperatures (some students may never have used numbers to represent temperatures, but the week 3 activities will help with this).
- Grammer 1: Nouns and Articles: This is homework. Tell them they need to bring it to the next class so that everyone can go over it together. Let them know that if they dont have time to work on the homework, they should still bring the handout to the next class, because its going to be gone over in class 3.
