| Episode Six |
| Axems Inferno and Rain hurried across the bridge. At the far end there was another group of guards. The city looked like it had been made by artists, not by carpenters. It was the most beautiful city Inferno had ever seen. It looked somewhat similar to the ruins in Bone Dry Desert. AXEM RAIN: If you don�t close your mouth soon, you might swallow a Buzzy Bee. Axem Inferno realized that he had his mouth open, so he shut it. His cheeks started to warm up, but no flames appeared. AXEM INFERNO (thinking): It�s bad enough I made a fool of myself by acting like I was some foolish tourist. I won�t blush now too. Rain led Inferno through the city. There were many Toads and lots of Koopas. Inferno supposed it was because of all the water that there were so many Koopas. The citizens were doing the things that any people on Earth would be doing, along with a few things that seemed to be customs of Aquador. There were entertainers, spectators, merchants, shoppers, and people who didn�t seem to be doing anything. A few entertainers were doing some feats that Inferno had never dreamed of, let alone seen. Axem Rain led Inferno to a large steel gate. It led into a palace surrounded a stone wall. A sentinel was at the gate, which was closed. It was a Koopa. He came to a small side door, which he opened a little slot in that was only big enough for him to look out. AXEM RAIN: Hello, Hubert. I�m here to show this visitor to the King. HUBERT: Is the King taking visitors today? AXEM RAIN: Yes, it is Blorkday. He always holds court on Blorkday. HUBERT: Sorry, Sir. I just transferred from the planet Quandike. AXEM RAIN: That�s ok. You are still new. Now could you please open the gate for a senior officer and a visitor? HUBERT: Yes Sir! Hubert�s eyes disappeared from the slot and the gate started to slowly grind open. It opened outward, showing that this place was designed to withstand attacks. Inferno turned to Rain to ask a question while the gate opened. AXEM INFERNO: Blorkday? What is Blorkday? AXEM RAIN: The day of the week it is today. AXEM INFERNO: Um...it�s Friday. AXEM RAIN: Friday? Never heard of it. But today is defiantly Blorkday. AXEM INFERNO: Yeah�whatever. Why don�t we go see the King? Rain and Inferno walked through the now opened gate. Axem Rain led the way through the palace. They soon came to a large door with a page standing outside. Axem Rain gave the Toad their names and then he announced the two Axems into the room. Axem Inferno looked around the throne room. It was large and all the fine tapestries, carpets, furniture, and other items showed that the King liked luxury. The King himself was on a large porcelain throne. That material was probably used because metals would have rusted. The rust would have been caused by the King himself. The King was an Axem that had to be a water type. His entire body was made out of water. He was tinted slightly blue, making the throne behind him appear a different color than the rest. Inferno then noticed that Rain had lowered himself to one knee, with a fist to his head, and his eyes on the floor. Axem Inferno decided it would be best to follow his example. A few seconds passed. AXEM KING: You may rise. Axem Inferno and Rain stood up. AXEM KING: So, what are you doing on Aquador, Inferno? Before Inferno could speak, Rain jumped in and quickly explained how Inferno had come out of the Arch, asked about information on shutting off the ruins, and been led to the King. AXEM RAIN�So that�s why I brought him to you. He can�t get into the library without your permission. AXEM KING: Did I ask you, you insolent guard? Axem Rain gulped and looked to the floor. AXEM KING: That is better. Now Inferno, please explain your own story of what you�re doing at the court of King H�0? NOTE: King H�0 will referred to as both King H�0 and as Axem H�0. Axem Inferno explained his story to King H�0. It was virtually the same thing that Axem Rain had said, except it was a little more detailed as to what happened before he came through the Arch. When he was done with his story, King H�0 looked slightly confused. AXEM H�0: In your entire story, you never mentioned Smithy. Is he really dead, then? A memory of something he had heard stirred in Inferno�s mind but he couldn�t remember what it was, so he let it go. AXEM INFERNO (thinking): Where did I hear something like that before? Bah! I can�t remember. It must not have been important. Axem Inferno explained all about Smithy�s downfall to King H�0. His eyes narrowed the farther in Inferno got, and he seemed to be getting angry. That faint memory almost resurfaced again, but it was still just out of reach. AXEM H�0: Well, you should get to the library. We have the largest and most renowned library anywhere. I will make sure that you are allowed in. AXEM INFERNO: Thank you�uh�your majesty. Axem Inferno was led to the library by the page. He showed some paper to the librarian, who then let them in. The page left, so Inferno asked the librarian for help. After he had explained what he was looking for, the librarian led them to a room at least as large as the ruins� Great Chamber. There were shelves upon shelves of books. AXEM INFERNO: Your library is this big? LIBRARIAN: Of course not! That would be absurd! This is just the section on the Arch ruins! Axem Inferno�s eyes shot very wide. AXEM INFERNO: This could take a while. ELAPSE TIME: Several hours later: LIBRARIAN: I think I�ve got it! Oh wait�never mind�that was not the same kind of defenses. Axem Inferno sighed and continued looking through some books. ELAPSE TIME AND PLACE: Several hours later, at the front entrance of the library: AXEM INFERNO: Thank you very much! Axem Inferno, now with the knowledge of how to turn off the lasers, waited for the page the librarian had summoned to arrive. It was getting late, and Inferno was going to stay the night. He planned to head back to Earth in the morning. The page, a Toad, arrived and started leading Inferno through the halls. Only after they went outside and were walking through a secluded garden did Inferno start to wonder where they were going. AXEM INFERNO: I thought we were going to where I am going to spend the night? PAGE: We�re going to where you are going to spend the rest of eternity! AXEM INFERNO: What? PAGE: ATTACK! Axem Inferno barely dropped to the ground in time to avoid the Water Orb that flew over his head. Even so, he was still hit by some of the splash from the wall and lost 50 HP, due to his weakness to water. AXEM INFERNO 450/500 Inferno looked up to see three enemies facing him. The only thing going his way was that one was the page. The other two were Axems. End of Episode 6 |
