AXEMS:  THE TOLARIAN CHRONICLES
Episode Six
Axem Hunter stands in the highest floor of the Coliseum, above the arena. He inspects a large pile of treasure, accompanied by an assistant.

HUNTER: And I can choose any of these treasures for the prize of the tournament?

ASSISTANT: Yes, and Id recommend hurrying. The contestants can get pretty mad if theyre left waiting.

Hunter picks up a golden crown lined with rubies.

HUNTER: Hmm cant give that away.

Hunter puts the crown onto his own head.

ASSISTANT: Um sir? Did you even hear me?

Hunter continues to sort through the pile of treasure, picking up each piece before throwing it down.

HUNTER: Nothing good.

ASSISTANT: Sir!

Hunter turns to face the assistant.

HUNTER: What?

ASSISTANT: I said that you shouldnt keep the contestants waiting.

HUNTER: Let them wait. Im having some quality time with my treasure here.

The assistant sighs, and then tells an underling to inform the contestants that the sign-up would again be delayed.

HUNTER: So, do you have any other rooms? I just couldnt bear to part with anything in here.

The assistant turns around to face Hunter. Hunter is completely coated in treasure, from the golden, ruby-encrusted crown on his head to the silver chain mail on his chest to the sapphire sandals on his feet.

HUNTER: Well, is there? Dont just stand there!

ASSISTANT: Yes, there is, sir. Follow me.

ELAPSE TIME:

The assistant and Hunter arrive outside an old wooden door.

HUNTER: Is this it?

ASSISTANT: Yes, sir. Go ahead.

Hunter enters the room. Inside, there is only an ancient, decrepit table. In fact, it looks so fragile that Hunter wonders how it is possible that the table is still standing. However, Hunters eyes are almost immediately pried away from the table. Atop the table, there is a key. This key is like no other key. As Hunter surveys it, it rises into the air, providing a full view of it. The key glows white at the top and black at the bottom. As Hunter steps closer, entranced, he can see three carvings marked in red at the base of the key: a pair of eyes, a bolt of lightning, and an axe.

HUNTER: So beautiful

Hunter reaches out to touch it. As soon as it does, though, it falls to the table and a flash of light covers the room. When the light has passed, Hunter remembers nothing since he walked through the door.

HUNTER: Hmm. So thats it? Oh well. I guess that will be the prize.

Hunter picks up the key and carries it out.

ASSISTANT: Did you find anything in there that will suit your needs, sir?

HUNTER: Um, yeah. This key.

ASSISTANT: Thank you, sir. Ill inform the contestants immediately.

An underling walks off to deliver the message.

MEANWHILE:

Axem Midnight Blue stands outside the Coliseum entrance. An unfortunate underling is being held by the neck by Midnight Blue.

MIDNIGHT BLUE: Are you telling me that its delayed AGAIN!?

UNDERLING: Er maybe

MIDNIGHT BLUE: You disgust me! Get out of my sight!

Midnight Blue throws the underling into the wall of the Coliseum. This accomplishes nothing, making Midnight Blue even angrier.

MIDNIGHT BLUE: GRRRR!!! I WILL SHOW THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR THIS TIME!

However, at that very moment, Axem Hunter steps out of the Coliseum.

HUNTER: You wouldnt happen to be talking to me, would you?

Midnight Blue seems to slightly calm down.

MIDNIGHT BLUE: As a matter of fact, I was.

HUNTER: What a pity. I was just about to announce that the tournament sign-ups were about to begin.
