| Kirby 64 Reviews |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one is from me! The 8-inch pink puffball is back, and in his very own Nintendo 64 game, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards! Though the title may have been made by a couple of first graders, it scores good with all gamers alike! GRAPHICS: 9/10. Each stage is amazingly detailed (just look at the backrounds!) and all of Kirby's Power Mixes look for real! What's stopping me from giving a perfect 10 is they could have done better. GAMEPLAY: 10/10. I find this game VERY addictive. I remember one day, the fun of it all made me sitting and staring at me TV screen for 5 hours straight! I was also surprised when I found out there were three additional mini-games so you can battle against your friends instead of leaving them watching because it's mostly a one player game. In addition, you can collect Enemy Info Cards and go head to head against each battle back to back without any help! Very good! GAME CONTROL: 8/10. Kirby games have a good reputation of keeping controls simple, and this game doesn't break it's strong point. All the controls are easy to use, such as jumping and swallowing, but one thing annoys me: that blasted camera! Sometimes, it positions itself in just a way so you can't see what you're going to run into. Plus, I think Kirby should run a little faster. MUSIC/SOUND: 10/10. Like most Kirby games, this has excellent music and sound! One of my favorite tracks is the 100-Yard-Hop theme, which was hard to decide with the other 30 or so tracks. Anyone know where I can buy the soundtrack? DIFFUCULTY: 8/10. This game has the correct amount of diffuculty (what I mean by that is it keeps the best and worst of gamers busy). Expert gamers will try to do everything in the game, like collecting the Enemy Infos while beginners will breeze through the storyline. The thing that's stopping me from giving a perfect score is one or two stages which are @#^&ing annoying. REPLAY VALUE: 8/10. With 3 different save slots, you'll want to play this game over and over (well, until you see little pink puffballs dancing in your sleep :) ). End of story there. OVERALL: 53/60. This equals to an 88.3%, or a 9. Nice work for an alien! SUGGESTIONS: I suggest renting this game first because it's sort of short, but if you'd like to go through it thoroughly again and again, buy it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
