| 17 Magazine - In the Groove. - Swimfans Erika Christensen and Jesse Bradford play teens caught in a twisted romance but between takes they kick back together with some rocking guitar. - 'I like clothes that you can wear to a party but are comfortable in if you have sleep in them later.' says Jesse. When he;s not busy, the rising star plays guitar and indulges in his latest passion - riding motor-cycles. - 'Jesse is really intense. He knows what he thinks about things and isn't afraid to tell you.' says Erika. But that didnt stop her from poking a little fun at hom sometimes. 'I teased Jesse for having to make out with me and I used to call him by his real name.' So what is it? Sorry, the loyal gal is keeping her lips sealed. - Erika Christensen has a knack for playing wild, sexually charged, law-breaking teenagers. Her flawless performances especially as Michael Douglas' heroin-addicted daughter in traffic, are so convincing that you expect her to be a handful off screen too. 'I was really surprised to find how normal she is,' says Bring It Ons Jesse Bradford, who gets caught up in a dangerous love triangle with Erika 19, and Shiri Appleby (of Roswell) in the thriller Swimfan, which hits theaters August 16. Erika plays a highschool cellist who becomes dangerously obbsessed with Jesses Character after a brief fling. (If it sounds kinda like 1987s Fatal Attraction, it is) Despite their super stormy on screen relationship, Erika and Jesse 23, had a ton of fun filming on location in New York City. 'We'd go out for dinner in Chinatown or SoHo and sometimes go dancing' says Erika who stars as Susan Saradons rebilious (figures) daughter in the up-coming The Bangers Sisters. The actors also spent their downtime rocking out, 'Jesse played guitar while Shiri and I sang along.' says Erika who recently showed off her kick-ass blues voice on Lat Call with Carson Doly; she says shed consider recording an album someday. But shooting Swimfan wasnt all fun and games - the cast did alot of prep work to nail their roles. To play a competitive swimmer (Swimfan, get it?) Jesse hit the pool for at least an hour each day. 'As soon as I got the role I bought swim trunks, earplugs and goggles and started doing laps. I got to the point where I could swim really well' says Jesse who lost 10 pounds in the process. And for her part Erika took cello lessons - though she admits that the music you hear in the movie is not hers. For her nexy film Erika says shes ready for something a little closer to home. 'I've kind of stacked up these crazy roles!' she says, with a smile. 'It's fine for me to go back to being sweet.' back to articles. |
