“I am so killing Reggie. I am honestly going to kill him.” Katie said, pacing in the empty yet decorated club. Peyton, Joe and Nick were leaning up against the deserted bar while watching her pace. “God, where is Kevin? Beth’s plane has been in for awhile. That means that they should be here.”
“Kate, calm down.” Joe said, chuckling a little.
“I wasn’t even supposed to be working this entire time that Beth is in town. And especially not tonight of all nights. But Reggie, the pain in my butt and the scourge of the Earth, has to hire me short notice. I was supposed to be at home watching a movie with my two best friends in the world.” Katie kept going. Her hands grabbed her sides where her purple satin halter top met her tight blue jeans. Her purple heels clicked over the floor as she walked.
The door to the club opened and Kevin walked in, dressed in a white long sleeved shirt, grey vest, grey scarf, tight blue jeans and black boots. “Hello beautiful.” He said, using his nickname for Katie.
“Where’s Elisabeth?” Katie asked, panicking a little until a blonde came in wearing a pair of jeans and a white halter that had an eyelet trim at the bottom of it, along with white heels.
“Katie Lynn!” Elisabeth said, as both Katie and Peyton came rushing over and enveloping their long lost friend in a tight hug. “Can’t breathe.” She finally forced out.
Katie turned her attention to Kevin as Peyton made her way over to Joe, who was messing with his blue and grey flannel jacket, along with his white tie, grey button shirt, black skinny jeans and faded red boat shoes.
“Hi.” Katie said, smiling.
“Happy birthday girlfriend.” Kevin replied.
“Thank you boyfriend.” Katie replied, as Peyton groaned.
“So we’re celebrating your birthday in an empty club?” Elisabeth asked, looking around.
“I got hired at the last minute for a party.” Katie said, her angry tone coming back to her voice again.
“Don’t even get her started or she’ll never stop.” Peyton warned.
“Guess that’s one of the many things you two have in common. You won’t let something go.” Joe shot back.
“Oh really? Know what else we do? We tend to use scary terms that guys hate.” Peyton said snidely.
Kevin and Elisabeth looked at Katie. “What did I miss?” Kevin whispered to Katie and Elisabeth nodded as if added that she was wondering.
“Peyton used the b word but Joe won’t use the g word at all.” Katie whispered back, watching the two fight back and forth.
“B and g word?” Kevin asked.
“Boyfriend and girlfriend.” Elisabeth answered, as Nick walked over in his white and black striped shirt, blue jeans and blue boat shoes.
“Nick, this is one of my unattached best friends from growing up, Elisabeth Thompson. Lily Beth, this is Nick Jonas.” Katie said, introducing the two.
“Hi, I’m Beth.” Elisabeth corrected.
“I kinda am partial to Lily, but I think it’s perfect for you.” Nick said.
Kevin and Katie smiled and then turned to see Joe and Peyton kissing.

“Okay, you two need to stop sitting here and come join us on the dance floor. Someone requested ‘Cha Cha Slide’ and I know you love that song Katie.” Peyton said, as she and Joe came over to where the other four sat.
“But we’ve been keeping Nick and Elisabeth company.” Katie said, as Joe chuckled.
“They need to come dance too.” Joe replied.
“You are not celebrating your birthday by sitting her by the bar. You turned 22 girlie!” Peyton exclaimed.
“Fine.” Katie said, grabbing Elisabeth’s hand and dragging her out onto the dance floor. Peyton straightened her jeans and pink tank top with a white halter over it and then raced out after them, her pink heels clicking as she snapped pictures along the way.
The three girls kept dancing to the music, laughing as they saw the three guys just watching them.
Reggie, a big burly white man, came over to them. “This party sucks.” He stated, as Katie stopped dancing and looked at him.
“Everything was done to your specifications.” Katie replied, crossing her arms across her chest. Both Elisabeth and Peyton started dancing slower and watching the exchange between the two. The guys had even started stepping closer.
“Where are all the honeys then?” Reggie asked.
“I sent all your invites. I even went above and beyond and made follow-up calls to make sure everyone had relieved them.” Katie shot back.
“There are plenty of girls here anyways.” Peyton said, motioning to all the girls dancing about in low cut tops and mini skirts.
“But not the honeys I specifically asked for.” Reggie replied.
“Reggie, I did what I could.” Katie said, turning back to Elisabeth and Peyton.
Reggie grabbed a hold of her arm, spinning back around to face him. “No you didn’t.” He said rather loudly.
“Hey!” Kevin spoke up as he stepped over. “Let go of her.”
“Kevin…” Katie warned. It was an unfair match up.
“She said she did the best she could. Now I suggest you let Katie go.” Joe suggested, coming closer with Nick on his heels.
“Or what?” Reggie asked, showing that he clearly wasn’t worried about what those three boys could do.
“I’m underage, and I know that this girl here is too.” Nick said, motioning to Elisabeth. “I’m also pretty sure that about half of the group is too. So, if someone were to accidentally call the police, this club would get shut down for serving to minors. I mean, there’s at least thirty violations out there on the floor.” Nick started.
“And then you, Reggie, would always be remembered as the one who got this club shut down for serving minors. And I know a lot of clients that use Katie’s party planning business love this club. You’d be driven out of LA.” Joe added.
Reggie slowly let go of Katie’s arm. “Yo! Adrienne!” Reggie called as he walked off.
The group turned to look at Katie. “You okay?” Elisabeth asked, as Katie nodded.
“I…” Katie swallowed hard, holding her arm where Reggie had been holding onto her. “I’m gonna go use the bathroom.” She quickly said.
Both Elisabeth and Peyton went to go follow but Kevin held out a hand to stop them. “I’ll go check on her.” He said, walking off after her.

Katie looked herself over in the mirror and took a deep breath.
The door to the bathroom was closed and she leaned up against it. If Kevin said nothing happened, then nothing happened. She had just overindulged in some vices.
She heard Kevin softly singing ‘Hello, Beautiful’, which meant that Isabella had woken up and couldn’t fall back asleep. Katie herself hadn’t even fallen asleep yet. Her mind had just kept wandering.
She stood up and splashed some cold water on her face. Hopefully now she could sleep.
