Kevin Jonas took a deep breath as he walked out of the hospital room. It had been thirteen hours. Thirteen hours of walking around a hospital, deep breathing and praying. There had been lots of praying.
He looked at everyone sitting in the waiting room; all trying to not look worried. He had been trying to keep them alerted of anything bad, but it was hard to. He had to be there, be with Katie.
Peyton Ryan looked up and her blues eyes darted across Kevin’s face. She turned to one of Kevin’s brothers who was sitting next to her. She quickly elbowed Joe, surprising him. “So?” Elisabeth Thompson asked, as everyone turned to the man standing before them
“Isabella Lyric Jonas has arrived.” Kevin said, a smile growing across his face as he mentioned his daughter.
“How’s Katie doing?” Peyton asked, biting her bottom lip. She and Elisabeth shared a concerned look for their friend.
“She’s kinda tired but so awake at the same time.” Kevin said. “I can sneak you all in. I’m sure after all she’s been through, Dr. James won’t mind if we’re a little over the visitor number.”
“We actually should get going and open up the store. And, we still have to go run and grab our presents that are sitting in the entryway to the apartment. We honestly didn’t plan on being here so long.” Elisabeth said.
“Yeah, I always seem to remember Katie mentioning how she was going to have such simple and short labors because she was a short labor herself.” Nick Jonas pointed out.
“There were a few complications, but nothing major.” Kevin mentioned.
“You guys can wait to open the store for a little bit longer, right?” Joe begged, looking at Peyton and pleading.
“I guess we can.” Peyton said as she and Elisabeth chuckled.
Isabella was wrapped in a plain white blanket with a pink cap over her already sprouting brown hair. She was in her cocoon and looked like she was sleeping, with her arms moving every once and awhile.
Katie sat up in her bed, holding the baby in her arms. Her hazel eyes were fixed on the baby and didn’t even notice the people coming closer. “You have some visitors.” Kevin said, as he knocked on the open door and walked in. Peyton, Elisabeth, Nick, Joe, Denise Jonas, and Paul Jonas walked in behind Kevin.
“Hey everyone.” Katie said, looking around at everyone. “Guys, this is Isabella. Bella, this is everyone.” She said, as Kevin came over to the side of the bed and took a seat on it with Katie.
“So, the nickname is Bella?” Elisabeth asked.
“Bella, Ella, Izzie, hey you, whatever comes out of your mouth first.” Kevin said.
Peyton and Elisabeth exchanged a look and then rushed over to the side of the hospital bed. Joe and Nick chuckled as they followed after their girlfriends, while Denise and Paul staid near the foot of the bed.
Katie pulled down the blanket, showing off Isabella a little more. Her skin was already tanned, and her brown hair looked like it was already starting to curl around the edge of her cap. Her eyes would open, showing off their hazel color before she would close them again. A small smile slipped over the newborn’s face as she took in being the center of attention. “She has Kevin’s smile.” Peyton said.
“She looks a lot like a Jonas.” Nick added.
“She acts like her Daddy and uncles too.” Katie said, yawning a little. “This little monkey is quite the ball of energy. The doctor almost dropped her couple of times because she wouldn’t stay still.”
“So how does it feel to be parents?” Elisabeth asked as Kevin took the newborn and brought her over for her parents to see.
“I don’t think it’s sunk in yet.” Katie said, smiling at the sight of Kevin holding his daughter.
“What? We’re parents? Since when?” Kevin joked, placing the baby in his mother’s arms.
“Well, we have to get out here. We have all the Halloween stuff to put out. And, with you being in here for the next few days will set us back just a little.” Elisabeth said, looking at her watch. “Congrats Kate.”
“I’m gonna be back in the next couple of days.” Katie quickly replied.
“In a few months at the earliest.” Kevin corrected.
“Bye Isabella.” Peyton and Elisabeth both said as they walked by the baby. They kissed their respective Jonas boy good-bye before leaving.
Denise came closer while carefully holding the newborn. “She looks beautiful.” Denise said, as Katie and Kevin smiled.
