Chapter 7
The walk back to the gymnastics hall was long
and silent. They both would turn to say something, and end up smiling at each
other. "The swimmers leave for Spain tomorrow, right?" Allie asked, being the
first to speak.
"Yeah, we do. We get back on the 10th." Aaron replied.
"That's when my roommate gets in." Allie said. "And I'll
defiantly be working hard by then." She added.
"So, all that leaves us in an interesting place then." Aaron
said, speaking of what happened back at the pool.
"Well, it does. But, all we really did was kiss." Allie said.
"We did. So, it's not like we're marching down the aisle some
time soon." Aaron said.
"Yeah, for all we know it could have been an accident." Allie
said.
"Oh yeah, some horrible accident." Aaron said, as Allie
turned to look at Aaron. She was staring into his eyes again, drowning in them
yet again.
"It was a good kiss." Aaron said, softly, not tearing his
eyes away from her.
"It was." Allie replied, not wanting to look away.
"Even if it was an accident." Aaron said, moving closer,
wrapping an arm around her waist.
"Did we ever agree it was an accident?" Allie asked.
"I think we did." Aaron said.
"Did we ever agree it wouldn't happen again?" Allie asked,
wrapping her arms around Aaron's neck.
For some reason, that just seemed like the natural step. She
felt comfortable with him, something she had never felt with someone else. She
felt comfortable with Jules, but in that best friends way. And, she felt
comfortable with Phelps, but that was an older sister/ younger brother way. This
was a whole new dimension with Aaron.
Their faces inched closer, as they heard footsteps coming
closer. "Guess we'll have to agree later." Aaron said, as the two quickly pulled
apart.
"There you are!" Jules' voice broke into the silence that had
overcome the two, as Allie made sure she was a decent amount of steps away from
Aaron.
"You've been trying to get a hold of me?" Allie asked, trying
to not worry Jules. Even though it looked like Jules was worried enough as it
was.
"When I saw a fleet of reporters following your trail, I
became worried and tried getting a hold of you any way I could. I didn't want
you to beat the reporters up." Jules said.
"See, heartless bitch." Aaron replied. Allie's reply to his
comment was just to stick her tongue out at him.
"I'll be in there soon." Allie said, turning to face Jules.
"I hope so. It's not like you to stay away this long from
your training." Jules said as she started walking back in.
Allie looked back at Aaron. "So, maybe I'll see you later. We
can talk things over or I can rant more or something." Allie said.
"Meet me on the balcony at 7. That gives you a little more
time for training." Aaron said, as Allie nodded. Aaron placed a small kiss on
Allie's forehead. Then, they went their separate ways.
