Chapter 26
“I’m 21.” Allie said, waking up the next morning. She quickly tossed
back her sheets, changed into a t-shirt and shorts and then raced down to
breakfast.
She grabbed food and then took a seat at a table where she
proceeded to shove food into her mouth.
“Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday
dear Alexis Annabelle Haywood. Happy birthday to you.” Jules sang, sitting down
at the table.
“Why thank you Coach.” Allie said. “I now remember why the
hell I hate my parents so much. Who gives their children initials that spell out
Aah?”
Allie felt arms wrap around her and cover her eyes. “Happy
birthday!” She heard Ian, Brendan, Michael and Aaron say as her eyes were
suddenly uncovered. A muffin with a lit candle sat in front of her.
“Make a wish and blow out your candle.” Aaron whispered in
Allie’s ear.
“You want a gold medal today?” Allie joked.
“How about you wish for your own.” Jules suggested.
“I think I can do that.” Allie replied. She took a deep
breath and then blew out her candle.
“So, how does it feel to be 21?” Brendan asked.
Allie looked around the table at everyone. “It feels good.”
She said, smiling.
