Chapter 17

Allie hated half of the outfit she had to wear. She even hid some of it in her roommate's closet. Though, Courtney Kupets was a smart girl and knew what had happened when extra Opening Ceremonies clothes ended up in her closet. When Allie returned from practice, she found her clothes laid out on her bed, along with a note from Nate stating "Wear this or die!" in his familiar scrawl. Allie had shaken her head, remembering all the notes Nate had left her over the years of he and Jules dating.
So, Allie dressed herself in the opening ceremonies attire, a small scowl on her face. She held her hat in her hand, wanting to wait until the last possible moment to start wearing it. She had even She waited until the last moment to get dressed, wanting to avoid time in it. She did know that she'd spend so much time at the opening ceremonies in it, and especially since the athletes walked in last. So, there would be all of the ceremony before they walked in.
Jules walked with Allie. Allie was silent, Jules looked around her. Jules was taking things in while Allie was running things through her mind.
"You're rather silent today Lexi." Jules said, as Allie looked over at her.
"7 more days until my birthday, I have a wonderful boyfriend, and my parents haven't annoyed me yet. I'm at the Olympics, and all of a sudden, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop." Allie explained.
"You worry too much Allie." Jules said. "For once in your life, you're doing great. Nothing is really bothering you and you should keep it that way. Just let everything slide, have fun. When you're with Aaron, don't worry about your family or your events. Just be in the moment. You worry about too much and you'll get wrinkles." Jules explained.
"I know. I just can't help it. For twenty years, it has been proven in my life that when things are going good, something happens and everything falls apart." Allie explained.
"Maybe that's all about to change." Jules said, as they came into the arena. Aaron and Nate were waiting for them, along with Brendan and Ian who both held miniature American flags they were smacking each other with.
"Maybe." Allie whispered. She and Jules bid each other goodbye and then agreed to meet after the ceremonies. Then, Jules and Nate went to find their seats while Brendan, Ian, Aaron and Allie went to join the parade.
