"Hey Mom!" Miley said, talking into her cell phone as she drove her Mustang down the highway. 'I just wanted to call you and tell you that I'm in town!"
"You're in town?" Mrs. Hart asked surprised. Miley knew that her mother was trying to figure out what on God's green earth would bring her back home.
"Yeah, I'm in town on business." Miley replied.
"I take it you are needing a place to stay, Melinda." Mrs. Hart asked. Her mother's tone caught Miley's attention. Mother Hart, as she had always been called, had figured out what had brought her daughter back into town. She had heard it in the way Melinda had rolled off her mother's tongue.
"Actually, yes." Miley said. "It won't be for too long, just a couple of nights." Miley took a quick turn onto a dirt road. She watched the farms as they passed; counting until she found the one she was looking for.
"Honey, you can stay as long as you want." Mrs. Hart replied. "Where are you Miley?"
Miley stopped her car next to the blue, beaten up pick-up. Her Boston Red Sox fuzzy dice and that damn light blue and white lace garter still hung from the rearview mirror. "Our house." She whispered.
"Where? I didn't quite catch that." Mrs. Hart asked.
"I'm dealing with some business." Miley said, noticing the body moving in the field behind the house. "I gotta go Mom. I'll give you a call when I leave." Miley said, quickly hanging up. She took a deep breath and then stepped out of the car.
She couldn't quite remember the last time she had walked through this field. She had always loved it when she had before she had left. This time, everything felt so different, even with the ties she had to this place.
Miley found the guy she was looking for, working shirtless. The white t-shirt was tucked into his back jeans pocket and dangling down the back of his leg. "So who do I have to blow to get you to sign these papers?" Miley asked, watching the guy turn to her.
"Smiley." He said, smiling at her. Her stern looked stayed, making him smile bigger. "Considering I haven't signed those papers, anyone you blow is considered cheating." He replied, his hands going to sit at his waist. The sun decided to shine on the gold band on one of his fingers and Miley mentally cursed.
"Not if we've been separated a year." Miley replied.
"I highly doubt you believe we've been separated." He said.
"Stop being a pain in my ass Timberlake and just sign these papers." Miley said.
"But you're missing something." He replied.
"Do not fear, I have a pen." Miley shot back.
"I was talking about your ring. Seems to be missing off a very important finger, Miley." Justin Timberlake said.
"It's Mindy now. Mindy Hart." Miley replied.
"I was always kinda partial to Miley." Justin replied.
"I was always kinda partial to beating you to a pulp." She replied.
"You wouldn't be able to catch me." Justin said.
"Then how about we make this easy on us both. Just get off your high horse and sign." Miley tried again.
"I'm not doing it Miley." Justin said, turning back to what he had been working on.
"You do know hat I'm not leaving until you do?" Miley asked.
"Then you better get that couch comfortable to sleep on." He shot back, looking over his shoulder at her.
Her arms were crossed tightly over her plain white t-shirt and she was hugging it closer to her body. Her jeans covered her legs, allowing only her toes and white flip flops to poke out from underneath them.
"Wait, since you haven't signed that paper that means the house is still partially mine." Miley said a very familiar and evil smile crawling slowly across her face.
"What are you planning?" Justin asked, For once in his life, he looked scared at what Miley might be plotting.
Miley just smiled and jogged off. Justin waited a second and then pulled his cell phone out of one of his front jeans pockets. He dialed a number and waited for a woman to answer. "Celeste, do you think you can send Sheriff Kildeer over to the Timberlake residence. There seems to be someone breaking into my house." Justin said.
