“Hey Miley.” David Henrie said, coming to sit by Miley.
“Hey David.” Miley said. “Have you talked to Kelsi recently?”
“About you and Kevin or about something else?” David asked, watching Miley fidget.
“Kevin and I sort of kissed on my birthday.” Miley explained.
“Before or after the food fight that I’m still finding coleslaw from?” David asked.
“After. And now I’m kind of wondering where we stand. But, Kelsi wants me to ask you or Joe what Kevin is saying.” Miley explained.
“You want to know if he’s calling you his girlfriend or not.” David summarized.
“Yeah, just a little.” Miley replied.
“I haven’t seen him yet to know.” David replied, as the bell rang. “Joe has Chemistry next block, you should try and catch him on the way to that and ask.”
“Thanks David.” Miley said.
“Meade, Henrie, promise me that it will not be a repeat of last year if I allow you two to sit next to each other again this year.” Mr. Kimi said as he walked into the classroom.
“To be honest, that was Kim James’ fault.” David spoke up.
“And the other time was John Bolton’s. We were honestly just drug into all those events.” Miley added.
“It’s going to be a long year.” Mr. Kimi said.

“Are you even supposed to be in this class?” Joe asked as Miley followed him into the chemistry lab.
“Yes!” Miley said, pulling her schedule out of her notebook. “Chemistry, third block.”
“You are actually taking Chemistry?” Joe asked as he chuckled a little.
“Kelsi and I were trying to get it as a class together, but I’ve got choir last block today so I couldn’t have it then.” Miley answered as Joe laughed. “Dude! I can do chemistry!”
“Didn’t you almost fail Algebra 1 last year?” Joe asked.
“I managed a C+!” Miley said as the two sat down at a lab table. “And I’m taking Algebra 2 this year.”
“Oh god.” Joe said, laughing so hard.
“Jonas! Meade! No catching the lab on fire this year if I allow you two to be lab partners.” Mrs. Kunkle said, walking into the room as the bell rang.
“We were falsely accused of that fire last year. We were working on our biology projects peacefully.” Joe spoke up.
“Why am I always paired with the troublemakers?” Miley asked.
