“Goodness, I can not believe my little girl is 16.” Mr. Tyler Meade said, as Miley came down the stairs and into the kitchen.
“And don’t forget a sophomore in high school also.” Miley pointed out.
“And you joint birthday party is tonight.” Mr. Meade said, smiling at his daughter.
“Yeah.” Miley said, sounding a little upset. “Guess so.”
“You okay Mel?” Mr. Meade asked, setting a breakfast plate down at Miley’s normal seat at the table.
“Yeah. I’m just not sure if I’m going to enjoy the party tonight.” Miley said, sitting down at the table.
“It’s your 16th birthday party.” Mr. Meade protested.
“And Kevin’s, and Joe’s, and Kelsi’s.” Miley added.
“It’s always been that way Miles. You guys are all so close birthday wise, so we always had joint birthday parties.” Mr. Meade said.
“Can’t we do something with just the family?” Miley asked, pushing her eggs around her plate.
“Is this about the bouncy castle?” Mr. Meade asked.
“We can go rent one.”
“No Dad, it’s not about the bouncy castle.” Miley replied, smiling a little. “I just thought about starting some new traditions.”
“Well, if you want to.” Mr. Meade said. “But you’ll miss the boys singing like they always do. And, Miss Locke has gone crazy with the food.”
Miley smiled. “I guess we can start new traditions next year.” She said.
