“I can’t do this Miles. Every single time he looks at me; he looks like he’s going to kill me.” David said, standing in the dressing area of the men’s clothing area at the department store they were shopping at.
“Kevin won’t hurt you.” Miley said, bringing him another vest to try on. “So, who cares if I asked you instead of him?”
“Miley, you don’t get it.” David said, accepting the vest. He shuffled back to his dressing room and closed the curtain. Miley stepped closer.
“Get what? Is Kevin going to start the food fight this time?” Miley asked.
“I wouldn’t put it past him.” David said, stepping back out. “You two kissed.”
“So? I’ve kissed Joe and Nick before.” Miley replied.
“Kissing Nick when he was a baby does not count. And, neither does kissing Joe during that truth or dare game in middle school.” David countered.
“You and I have kissed.” Miley said, raising an eyebrow at him.
“That doesn’t count either.” David quickly replied.
“So Kevin and I have kissed. Big whoop. He hasn’t shown or done anything in the past month to show that he cares for me as anything other than just a friend.” Miley said.
“And you’re mad because you want to be more than just friends.” David added.
“I didn’t say that.” Miley shot back.
“You didn’t have to.” David replied, stepping back into the dressing room to change.

Miley didn’t want to think. She had been avoiding thinking ever since she had left the mall with David.
He was wrong. There were not two ways about it. She didn’t care about her and Kevin’s relationship. She didn’t care that they were just friends.
She had been surfing the internet, but as her mind started working, she had slowly stopped. She ended up propping her feet up as so many sentences flew through her head.
Her cell phone rang, surprising her. “Hello?” She quickly answered, as her face slowly fell. “I’ll be there as fast as I can.”
