My summer in Houston. It's the city everyone loves to hate.  The humidity, the pollution, the heat, the obesity.  Home of Andrea Yates and Tara Lipinski.  Future home of Robert Durst.  The land of no zoning laws--houses made of beer cans, strip clubs, family eateries and churches, all on one cozy block.  The Birthplace of Me.
I spend most of my days in a dark room, blinds shut, one lamp on, alternating between staring  at my bar review books and staring blankly at my hands.  At the end of the day, I like to unwind with a cold brewskie and kick it back with the boys...the Boys of Summer, that is.
Clearly, I have never held a baseball bat in my life.
Not to perpetuate stereotypes of Houstonians being unhealthy gluttons, here's a picture of my family deep frying some chicken in our backyard.
And what better way to keep in shape than synchronized roller skating routines??
Me & Krissy.   It's much harder than it looks.
Next stop: Our Nation's Capitol.  The city the entire world loves to hate.  A few inspiring quotes as I prepare for Operation Adulthood:

"Bureaucracy is a giant mechanism operated by pygmies." --Honore de Balzac
I promise to be the best little pygmy that the taxpayers could ever ask for.

"Your lovin' give me such a thrill, but your lovin' don't pay my bills.  I need money.  That's what I want." --Etta James
Ah, yes, the world of gainful employment.  Now, if only I could figure out a way to combine lovin' with makin' money....hmmm...

Synchornized swimming is another favorite pasttime, but this group wasn't very receptive to the idea, so instead we played "thematic diving."
Krissy is my friend because she's always game for bringing to life my creative visions.  Here's Krissy, in "The Birth of Venus."
