After returning from Panama where I served as a
Peace Corps Volunteer, I traveled from Vermont to California and back to satisfy
my curiosity about our own culture. As
a result of my experiences I am flexible and open minded, and I offer my skills
of organization, patience, humor and thoroughness.
Animal Experience: I am currently working as a Veterinary
Technician in a small animal hospital.
My duties include assisting the surgeon, blood work on in-house lab
equipment, in-patient care, clinic maintenance, and assistant
receptionist. On the side I take care
of pets while their families are away.
Computer Skills: I have
experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Dataflex, Microsoft NT, Access
and the Internet. I have learned
several obscure databases, even with only 2 days of training, as I am
comfortable learning new programs. I
also have experience with multi-line phones, fax and photocopiers.
Customer Service: I have
years of experience working with the public, with anything from offering
project advice to solving problems. I
have an easy, friendly manner and neat disposition that work well with all
types of people.
Language: I speak
Spanish fluently as a result of living closely with the peoples of Panama as a
Peace Corps Volunteer. I was unable to
speak Spanish when I arrived, but learned quickly with the help of wonderful
friends, teachers, and the ability to laugh at myself.
Management: I
supervised a dining room and its staff, acting as hostess and cashier, with the
responsibility of opening and closing the restaurant.
Nature studies: I am
wholeheartedly interested in animals and the environment. My degree reflects this interest, as well as
the subjects I study in my spare time; I have gained experience in Herbalogy,
Biology, Animal Behavior and Communication, as a result of my continued
self-driven studies.
I successfully completed my BA in Natural Resource Studies
at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1997. I graduated with minors in Wildlife Biology
and Fine Art, with a 3.5 GPA. A
transcript, references, and a work history will be available upon request.
