RATING: R
PAIRINGS: A/S
SUMMARY: After
Spike spends that night in hell he goes to Angel for comfort. R for swears, and
minor slash. Soft R at best. One Shot fic.
The mood just
struck me, you’ll find that, that happens a lot. Don’t
ask just R&R if you please.
Spike was
quietly sitting in a random chair in Angel’s office. Every inch of his body was
shaking and he didn’t know why. ‘You damn well know why ya
git.’ His annoying internal voice yelled at him.
“I know.”
Spike answered back shakily. “Considering I just spent the greater portion of
the evening in Hell, I have a right to be scared.” He said to himself trying to
rationalize what was happening to him.
‘Ya.’ The voice agreed. ‘No
shame in the Big Bad getting a wiggens or two from
time to time.’ As Spike continued to agree with himself there was a loud crash
coming from the hallway outside Angel’s office.
Spike jumped
three feet out of the chair and turned, if possibly, paler. The noise came
again and this time Spike found himself standing in the middle of Angel’s large
desk. “I’m getting’ the bloody fuck out of here.” He said as he bolted towards
the elevator. He used nearly all his strength to press the button that goes up
and climbed in. He pressed the second button with great difficulty and the
doors of the lift shut.
Cheerful music
filled the elevator as it started to move up and towards Angel. Spike knew that
Angel would chuck him out as soon as he got there but he couldn’t fight the
urge to go to his sire when he was scared. A moment later the doors slowly
opened to reveal Angel standing outside the elevator, waiting for Spike.
“What are you
doing up?” Spike asked in shock.
“Waiting for you.” Angel smirked.
“Well...”
Spike couldn’t think of a wiseass comment to cover his insecurity. So he tried
being civil. “How’d you know I would be here?” He asked, rather dejectedly.
“Spike
please.” Angel rolled his eyes. “You just spent the night in hell, where else
would you go? You would go and bother me to cheer yourself up.”
‘Wow.’ Spike’s
inner voice said dumbly. As usual Angel had missed the point,
he got half credit for knowing Spike would come to see him but totally missed
the why. Spike sighed, closed his eyes and massaged the bridge of his nose.
“What?” Angel asked, quirking an eyebrow as confusion started to seep into
his voice.
“You were a
good sire, ya know that?” Spike said suddenly. “Every
time me, Dru or Penn were scared you’d let us into
your bed, wrap your arms around us and tell us that everything would be
alright. Well tonight I was scared out of me bloody gourd, probably by the
janitor now that I think about it.” Spike laughed slightly then kept going.
“And despite a hundred years of suppression I still have the annoying instinct
to run to you when I’m afraid, so I did. I’m not here to bother you, I was just
gonna watch you sleep, like you used to do with me.
But now I can see that you don’t want me here so I’ll go.”
Spike turned
to leave. “Spike wait.” Angel said from behind him. Spike turned to look at his
sire. “I was actually hoping that’s why you were here, but I just went with the
most likely.”
“Yer just sayin’
that to further my misery. Jeez Angel you can be a right bastard
sometimes.” Spike said angrily.
“Spike
really.” Angel took a step toward the bleached blonde. “I
under stand. Hell dimensions are not as fun as their advertised to be,
hey I spent a good thousand years in one and if you want to stay up here, so be
it.” Angel turned and walked back to his room.
After the
shock wore off Spike walked into the bedroom as well. In his ghost form Spike
didn’t need sleep, and considering Angel was a vampire he didn’t need all that
much either. Spike sat down on the corner of the bed and they began to talk.
They spent the first hour or so swapping hell dimension stories then moved on
to other topics.
They talked
until the sun came up then Spike got up off the bed and headed to the door. He
waved a short goodbye that doubled as a thank you and went into the elevator
and down to the lobby. When Angel came down stairs at
Spike spent
the two following nights in Angel’s room just talking. The
forth day or so a box arrived and he was no longer a mere spirit. He
stopped spending his nights in Angel’s room when he got his own apartment and
things between them went back to normal. Like it should be.
One night
though, after hearing about Nina, Spike went back into Angel’s room. He sat at
the window and watched his sire sleep. When dawn neared and Angel began to stir
Spike stood up and walked to the bed. He bent down and gave Angel a gentile
kiss on the lips. “Thanks.” He whispered then strode out of the room and to the
elevator.
“Welcome.”
Angel whispered back once Spike was gone. “When I see you next, there will be
hell to pay, be sure of that.” He smiled then rolled over to squeeze out
another hour or so of sleep.
Okay, that
ended up in a different place than where it started. Oh well. R&R if you
please!
