WOLFRAM
AND HART, SECOND FLOOR LOBBY:
"Freeze!"
The distinct sound of guns being loaded was heard over the commanding voice of
the officer.
The
man looked at the armed officers with contempt as he came to a slow stop. He
watched the officers move into position to block off any escape and the man
chuckled mirthlessly at their attempts to stop him.
"Don't
mind if I do," He spoke casually before turning glazed eyes towards the
commanding officer. Ice began to form on the officers' feet, slowly moving
upwards until covering both legs with the officer screaming in agony, moving
his hands to clutch at his legs. As soon as his hands touched his legs, the ice
ran up his arms until it covered the whole of his body, leaving the officer
literally frozen in place.
The
rest of the team looked at each other in terror before turning determined eyes
back to the enemy. The man smirked, holding his hands out in a 'Come hither'
gesture, which made them clench in fury at his arrogance.
"Take
him down!" A feminine voice yelled out, and he smiled in satisfaction. He
was finally going to get some action. The officers charged, bullets firing from
their guns all heading for the person in front of them, he couldn't get past
the bullets, there were too many of them, or that's what they thought any way.
They
came to an abrupt halt and looked around in confusion as they realized they
were firing at nothing. There were no holes in the wall where the bullets
should have gone into if they missed their target. Anthony growled in
annoyance, took off his earphones, wincing as the sound of the alarms hit him
full volume, and got out his radio.
"Jake!
The guy got passed us! He was right in front of us but then suddenly
disappeared like magic. There aren't any bullet holes in the wall either where
there should have been if we missed him. Any suggestions?" Anthony
shouted, blocking his free ear.
"IT'S
A SPELL!" Jake yelled back desperately.
"What?"
Anthony asked, not hearing Jake over the alarm.
"YOU
CAN'T SEE HIM! IT'S A SPELL TO HIDE THE AREA HE'S STANDING IN!" Jake
yelled out, getting frantic.
"Shit"
Anthony said under his breath, dropping his radio to the ground and quickly
getting his gun back into place as he saw a distortion move towards him. He
watched the rippled distortion move away from him and towards his partner who
had his back turned to the oncoming danger.
Before
Anthony could yell out a warning
Anthony
screamed in outrage and started firing in earnest to dispatch the threat, but
it was to no avail. The bullets hit the barrier of the spell only to crumple
into dust and float harmlessly to the ground. He watched in growing horror as
the man came back into view staring at him as if he were nothing then turned to
whomever was left of the crew, there wasn't many.
"If
you were smart and cared for your friends
you would have left a long time
ago," The man said seriously over the sound of the alarms, glancing at
Anthony with pity. Turning cold eyes back to the rest of the crew, who were
firing their weapons wildly in their hysteria, he walked up to them absorbing
their bullets as though they were nothing then pulled their guns out of their
grasps. He then grabbed the young woman by her hair and flung her out of the
smashed window, listening to her screams quieting as she neared the ground
until they stopped completely.
The
other three men and two women feverishly pushed their way past their enemy but
before they could get a foot away from him he had slammed his hands down on the
back of the two women's necks, breaking them, then had punched one of the men's
jaws which broke both his jaw and neck and threw the last two onto the floor in
front of him. Before they could react he stamped down on one man's ribs,
breaking them all painfully and stepped on the other one's neck, crushing his
windpipe. The alarms suddenly stopped.
"Anthony!
Pick up!" Through all his shell shock Anthony had completely forgotten
about the radio that lay on the floor by his feet and hurriedly picked it up as
the man walked threateningly towards him. He ignored the screams of his fallen
comrade and walked backwards to keep a distance between him and the enemy.
"Jake!
I need backup! The guy has killed everyone! Oh God! Get some guys down
here!" Anthony shouted hysterically.
"Who
the fuck are you?!" Anthony directed to the man.
"Pure
Evil, baby" The man spoke, smirking as his eyes turned a fiery red.
Anthony dropped the radio, the speaker button still active.
"God
Help Us All" Anthony whispered as his mind and body came alive with pain
before he finally plunged into darkness.
SECURITY
DEPARTMENT:
"Pure
Evil, baby"
"God
Help Us All"
Those
were the last phrases heard from the radio as whatever happened to Anthony had
destroyed their connection to the radio. The room fell into silence as they
silently mourned the loss of their friends.
"We
have to go up there!" Gunn said determinedly, already loading up his gun.
"No
we don't" Jake spoke softly, looking at Gunn with rueful eyes.
"What
the hell do you mean 'No we don't'?" Gunn shouted angrily. Jake jumped up
from his chair, knocking it over in the process.
"Because
if we do then we won't stand a chance! We need a plan! We can't all go charging
up there like a herd of animals only to be put down like one! Everyone is dead!
There were 30 men up there! Hell there was ONE guy up there and he managed to
kill everyone!" Jake screamed, face turning red in fury.
"Fine.
What do you suggest we do then?" Gunn asked sarcastically.
"We
arm ourselves and find out where the others are. There is no way that there is
only one guy in this building unless he is incredibly stupid. There are up to
50 camera monitors in here, there were blurred shapes on nearly every one of
them. Gather together; get them out. Mr. Pryce brought down the cloaking spells
so at least we'll be able to see them," Jake ordered, watching as his men
got together what they needed. Gunn nodded in agreement before setting up what
he needed.
"My,
my. Lookie at all the humans" Everyone in the room turned their guns to
the sound of the unrecognized voice before lowering them slowly as they watched
as up to 20 men entered the room, armed, with many more waiting outside.
WESLEY.W.
PRYCE'S OFFICE:
The
man entered the room cautiously, checking any places where someone could be
waiting to spring onto him. After thoroughly checking the room he went over to
where the vault was kept and held his hand over the opening. Soon enough a
crackling sensation went up through the opening before the door crumpled into a
heap in front of him. Smiling maliciously he entered the vault and scanned the
area to try to find out where his book and ingredients were. Seeing where they
were hidden, he smiled, grabbed them and quickly secured them under his long,
flowing robe. He looked around to find anything else that could be of use to
him.
After
finding nothing else he walked out, fixed the opening to the vault before
turning from the room, leaving it as though nothing had happened.
"Angel
I'll telling you that he would have gone to Wesley's office! He has that
big
" Spike pondered for a few seconds, "
thing! In there. You know
with all those ancient texts and stuff that cause all sorts of problems"
Spike rambled as they circled within the main entrance lobby.
"Yes
I know that Spike. But if this guy is so sophisticated to walk in through the
main entrance then he's probably going to walk out the same way. He's most
probably already got what he wanted and is coming back," Angel said,
glancing up at the stairwell.
"Yeah
well that's just get into our positions before this guy jumps us. I really want
to get back upstairs" Spike winked suggestively at Angel before moving off
into his position.
Angel
chuckled, "You are insatiable" Angel muttered, also moving off in the
opposite direct to Spike.
"Now
be careful peaches, wouldn't want something to happen to the pride and joy down
there now would we?" Spike said jokingly but Angel could hear the concern
hidden under his statement.
Angel
was about to reply when he caught a scent coming from up the stairs. He looked
over to Spike, saw that Spike had also noticed and had gone into a defensive
crouch in his hidden location.
As
the man walked silently down the stairs he looked around the room curiously as
he sensed something not very right about where he was, he inwardly smiled as he
caught two other scents in the room. As he stepped off the last step he was
immediately barreled into from his left side and fell onto the floor in an
ungraceful heap with his attacker. Angel quickly jumped at and moved to strike
at his opponent but was hit by an invisible force that knocked him across the
room.
Spike
ran up to the enemy, kicked him around the face, which had barely made the
man's head turn. As the man turned back ready to strike Spike, he met air as
Spike ducked and rolled behind him. The man growled in frustration, turned with
incredible speed to block Spike's blow, holding his fist within his hand and
looked up at his face. He was immediately struck with astonishment as he stared
at the face in front of him, not believing what he was seeing. Beauty like this
surely cannot possible exist, he thought in wonderment before letting a smile
curve onto his mouth. He had finally found what he had wanted.
Perfection.
