WOLFRAM AND HART MEDICAL WARD:

As soon as Illyria set Spike down everything went into a haze. Medics rushed into and out of the room carrying several books on the Hyamunt'la demon, they then began work on Spike, trying to find out what was happening to him. They took many bloody samples, which were sent away with different lab technicians to study the different elements making up the concoction. All of that took a total of 3 minutes; time wasn't an issue in Angel's world.

Angel just stood there and watched while Gunn tried to get a reaction out of him. He just stared at Spike while several tubes were stuck into him to figure out what the poison was doing to his body and where it was. After another long few minutes everything had calmed down dramatically. Gunn sat him in a chair while he continued staring at Spike. The machines that were hooked up to Spike took his blood level and temperature, which should be completely cool, the blood level was low signalling that blood was being used in incredible speed while the temperature was alarmingly high.

He was hooked up to blood bags, which were being drained slowly, and it seemed that the blood going in wasn't registering on the machines. The blood in his body was still falling, slowly but still surely falling. The Medics were baffled. It seemed as though Spike had lost his healing ability.

"When one gets injected or consumes it they suffer in a sort of weakened way. They are unable to move, speak or think properly even their blood and organs stop working properly."

Gunn had decided to leave Angel where he was and research to try to help Spike, Angel was causing no harm. He seemed…. Catatonic.

After a smooth 15 minutes of research it was suddenly interrupted by the machines alarms and Spike's seizure.

Everyone just stopped what they were doing, not knowing what to do. The medics looked at each other; Spike should not be having a seizure yet.

"I need as many human blood bags you have to replace the lost blood! He could start spitting up blood any minute and if he doesn't get it he could turn to dust before we've even started! I want you three on research, as fast as you can, I need to know what this poison does and how to cure it!" Everyone went into action, Gunn, Wesley and another medic went onto research and the others rushed round grabbing blood bags and hooking them up. They also hooked empty bags to collect lost blood.

Angel then decided to click into action by rushing up to see what was happening. He was barely being held back by Illyria.

Wesley then started waving his hands about in an, 'I've found something' way.

"Oh! It says you have to separate the compounds in his blood to try and find a sort of lilac colour element. It's unknown but can be seen under a microscope. It's the healing element in the poison but is cancelled out by the other surrounding elements. You add the element to Hydrochloric Acid where it then fuses, removes the acid in it turning it into an alkali, the Hydrochloric acid is essential to this. The poison in his body is acidic and should be cancelled out by the alkali. Inject the same amount of alkali as the acid was and that should neutralize the poison"

Wesley clapped his hands in delight and rushed off to the lab.

Gunn was scrunching his face up trying to figure out how the hell that science stuff was supposed to work.

Illyria nodded her head in an, 'that makes sense' gesture.

Angel wasn't listening as he was still trying to get to Spike.

The Medics were still working furiously to calm down Spike. They gave him a strong sedative in the end.

"He's stable"

As everything calmed down again, Wesley came in holding up a light purple solution. He got the dosage needed, flicked it, and then injected it into Spike. The results were immediate. The blood level in his body was rising and Spike got back his natural pallor, he even started to breath again as though he was asleep. The poison in his blood was steadily dropping at increasing speed but his healing factor didn't seem to be kicking in. Angel sobbed in relief.

"When he wakes up, if he wakes up, he'll be very weak and his healing factor won't be at top notch. It's going to take a long time for him to recover." Wesley spoke quietly.

"What do you mean if?" Angel whispered back, sitting at Spike's bedside.

"His organs shut down Angel. Everything weakened in him, everything. His brain didn't function which means that it may have confused it when everything was healing. He may not be able to wake up. Not only that the healing factor isn't working so that makes it even harder for his brain to cooperate." Wesley smiled sadly, but Angel still looked determined.

"I'll be here for him when he wakes up." Wesley sighed; this is going to be difficult. Gunn came over and patted Angel on the back,

"Of course you will man, I'm sure he'd like you to be there for him as well" As Gunn spoke he looked to Wesley; Go with it. He said with his eyes.

The medics cleaned up the equipment and gave smiles to each other. They had saved Spike who was Angelus' childe. They were glad he was alive so that they weren't dead.

Everything went silent as the Medics left and the three friends were left watching over their newest friend. Begging him to awake from the coma.

SOMEWHERE AWAY FROM WOLFRAM AND HART…

Spike stood standing in complete darkness. He didn't understand what had happened. He had walked into the lab before blinding pain hit his head and then darkness. Now he's stuck in the darkness with there not seeming to be a way out. Spike frowned; why doesn't this look good.

He listened carefully and he could hear voices. He could only pick up detached words and half of sentences. Many human blood bags… turn to dust before…poison…cure it.

Spike sighed; it didn't make sense. He wanted to know where the hell he was and how to get out. He suddenly felt as though he were floating, flying only without a breeze. He was then watching in third person as Angel yelled, ranted and told him of how much of a failure he was. He also watched as a lone tear travelled down his face after Angel had left. Spike sighed, not one of his best memories.

"Now I will tell you what I've done for you
50 thousand tears I've cried
Screaming Deceiving and Bleeding for you
And you still won't hear me"

Spike was then pulled from that memory and was left yet again in darkness but this time he could hear someone talking without the sentences scrambled, although it sounded like an echo. He looked down at his hand and could almost feel someone clutching it, holding onto him. He then realised the voice was Angel's and sneered. Maybe this is my own personal hell; live in a hell where you hear your love's voice for eternity. One sentence caught his attention, I'm so sorry please wake up!

"Don't want your hand this time I'll save myself
Maybe I'll wake up for once
Not tormented daily defeated by you
Just when I thought I'd reached the bottom"

He was in a coma.

"I'm dying again"

Spike looked around at the never ending darkness, panicking and breathing hard, then he screamed.

"I'm going under
Drowning in you
I'm falling forever
I've got to break through
I'm going under"

After he calmed down, realising that his screaming weren't going anywhere just bouncing back to him, he concentrated on the voice as much as he could, trying to get closer to it. Please Spike, I love you please wake up I'm sorry! You've been asleep for a long time now you should wake up now. Please…I really do love you I never meant to push you away…

Spike thought as those words were being said. Should he take the risk? What if it was a plot so that Spike can go back to being the puppy? What if it was lies?

"Blurring and Stirring the truth and the lies
So I don't know what's real and what's not
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can't trust myself anymore
I'm dying again"

Spike decided to take the risk. He concentrated on the voice until he felt another floating sensation but with an added 'pull' to it. The voice sounded closer and clearer until the sensation stopped and he could feel bedding under him.

"I'm going under
Drowing in you
I'm falling forever
I've got to break through"

His eyes shot open, his pupils dilated and he gave a heart-wrenching gasp.
