| The sun shines in through the window, making it's way through the draps and on the sleeping face of a young girl. Blinking her eyes at the sudden light she rises out of the sheets and streches her arms trying to get the cinks out. A result of a good night sleep. Washing and dressing quickly, she hurries into the kitchen of the small cottage where she lives with her mother, father and siblings. Sitting at the table she wolfs down her breakfast. "Slow down." her mother gently scolds, "The woods arn't going to go anywhere. So don't rush." Not responding, but doing as she is told she slow down but still in a fast way. Rushing out of the cottage she runs into the woods. Her mother standing at the door watching her with a smile on her face. "I'll see you later." the girls father says walking up behind her mother and giving her a kiss on the cheek before heading out as well, a bag at his waist and a bow and quiver slug over his shoulder. * * * Runnning through the woods, a smile spread across her face, she reaches up to grab tree branches that reach down to her, flowers spert up around her feet. Kneeling down at a water pool, she dips in her hand and the water clears. Cupping her hands she takes several mouth fulls before moving on. Coming to the edge of a clearing, she starts walking around, sticking close to the forest edge. Finding a nut tree that had recently shed it's bounty, she kneeled on the ground to gather up the nuts and put them in the pouch that she wears at her waist. Standing up again she continues to walk around the clearing. Seeing a strange light up ahead she runns to it. Stopping at a tree she could see that it was dead from being struck by lightning. In the crevese made in the trunk a light glows. "It's a portal." she thinks to herself. Slipping her hand inside, she pulls it out quickly. Looking at her still attached hand, she slips it in again, but this time her body follows. Coming out on the other side, she looks around to find herself ithe middle of a green field, much like the one she just left, but with one major difference. In the middle of the feild there are creatures that are laying on the ground. And another creature is standing guard over them, "A dragon." she thinks to herself amazed. While watching something sneaks up on her, she feels something butting her back, turning around she meets the eyes of one of the creatures that are laying in the field. It chirps at her and buts her hand with it's muzzle. Laughing a little she starts to pet it, "So this is what you came to see." a male voice says behind her turning around there is a young man. "Hello." she says to him, his face telling her that he isn't anyone to be afraid of. "Hello." he says back "I'm Danin, and this is Ikute." he says walking over to the creature and petting it. "What is he?" she asks curious. "He's a Fedra." "And them too?" she asks pointing at the other creatures. "Yeah, them too." he answers. "Are they yours?" she asks him. "Mine, no. The only one I have to worry about is this one here." he says nodding to Ikute, and petting it some more. "But one of them could be yours." he says to her. "Really?" she asks looking at them with interest. "Yea, the eggs will be hatching soon, and one of them will need a bonder." "Bonder?" "Yeah, a person to take care of them. Though there's a little more to it then that." "Like what?" "It's kind of hard to explain, it's like..." he says trying to think of a way to explain it, "It's like there mind melds with yours, but at the same time you two stay completly seperate entities. Does that help any?" "Yeah, I think so." she says looking at the creature with interest again. "How long do you think?" "Just a few days more." he tells her. "Okay, sure why not." and she turns back to the portal. "Where are you going?" "Got to let the ones at home know. Then I'll be back." she tells him. "Okay, just make sure you don't miss it." he warns before walking off. * * * Walking through the portal again she rushes strait home. "What has you all excitied?" her mother asks as she sees her rush in the house. "I found a portal on the far side of the clearing." she tells her mother excitedly. "Don't tell me you went in." her mother exclaims. "Well...yeah I did. But it's okay there's nothing bad on the other side." "But there could have been." her mother scolds. "Yeah, I know but listen. There's this thing there called a fedra. There about ya high." and she shows with her hand. "Okay." her mother says not grasping the importance. "Well, they bond to people. You know like the dragons." "And you want to go try." her mother says, figureing out her daughters plan. "Yeah, can I please?" she says begging. "I don't see any reason why not." her mother admits. "Yes," she says jumping into the air. "But it's your job to take care of it." her mother interjects. "Yeah, I know that." she protests. "As long as we're strait." her mother says going back to her house work. For the next few days, she travels through the portal. Waiting for the eggs to hatch. * * * It was a sunny day when Danin came up to her in a hurry. "To the feild now. The eggs are hatching." Dropping what she was doing, which was really nothing at all, she runs to the feild right before the eggs hatch. Watching as different fedras break from their shells and choose their bonds. From one of the shells a bright red fedra breaks from it's shell and struts over to her. /Your mine now. I'll Protect you from now on./ |
