| In the Taniae province, the Lord kept it prosperous and healthy, it's future leadership insured by his two children. Of whom his oldest son showed promise of making it even better then his father, until one night.
A woman had come to the manor that day, asking for a days' shelter. The lord had granted it, and that turned out to be his biggest mistake. As they sat at their evening meal, she had gotten up and walked to the front table. She stood there silently until the lord took notice of her. "Yes." "Lord, I would like to thank you again for your hospitality to a lone stranger." "No th... " I have seen your home and I find it to be very impressive," she interrupts, "Impressive enough to call it my own." Tentacles explode from her body stabbing into the armed guards surrounding the hall. Battle erupts as man all around draw swords and charge forward to face the demon. Swooping up his children, the lord carries then to the next room and hides them. "Stay here and don't move until I come for you." he orders. Pulling out his own sword he returns to the fighting. In the dark manor, lightning strikes passed the window illuminating the room where the battle takes place. "DE-MON" clashing of metal is heard. In the darkness a man fights for his life against a monster. In the next room the two children crouch, huddled together waiting for the fighting to end. Cringing at the screams coming from the other room, all is suddenly silent. They shrink back when they hear the door opening and foot steps walking in. "Hello, little children. Where are you?" the woman's voice floats back through the room. Taking a firm grip on a practice sword, the young boy shrinks back even more from the voice. "Come now, I wont hurt you." they could hear her getting closer. When the woman was almost on top of them, he takes an even firmer grip on the sword, and jumps out slicing through her arm. "Aaaahh." screaming, a tentacle shoots out of her body clutching around the boy. "Bethane, RUN." he yells at his sister. Making a dash for the door she is caught by another tentacle from the woman's body. "You dare cause me pain?" she hisses, as her arm grows back from the stump that was left behind. "For that little pain I will return it to both of you a thousand fold." throwing each of them against a wall. Smaller tentacles come from her body reaching out for them. Soon their bodies are riddled with shallow cuts and the demon is laughing with joy at their screams. Using too much force, she cuts through the boys arm. Screaming at the sudden pain, he starts to black out from the shock and loss of blood. "Oh no, I'm not done with you yet." a black cloud comes from her fingers surrounding him. He screams as his arm starts to grow back, and his wounds heal. "Now that I think about it, you two may make nice toys." another black cloud comes from her hand and encircles Bethane. She can feel her heart slow until it is no longer beating. Her breathing stops as her lungs refuse to take in any air. But she isn't dead. Looking up at the demon in fear, "You two will make good entertainment for me. At least, after I am done killing the people of this province." she says, carrying them out with her, she leaves the manor to begin her slaughter. Soon everyone is dead, all except for the two children who were dealt the cruelest fate of all, to live their lives under the servitude of the demon. Her little toys, forever healing and forever hurting from the wounds she inflicts. * * * Years have past and they are still in the servitude of the demon. The only joy they gain, is the frustration that their invulnerability causes their mistress. They would have been dead years ago if it hadn't been for the curse that she had put upon them. When she did it, she hadn't thought of the fact that, no matter what she did to them they would never die. All she could do was take pleasure in the pain that she could cause them, but they had fortified themselves against most of her torture and she actually had to think of ways to cause new kinds of pain. One day being more bored then ever, torturing them brought her no pleasure. "You two have far out grown your usefulness. Get out of my house." "Lady?" Bethane looking up at her, not in the slightest believing what she heard, their mistress had been giving in to using mind tricks as of late and nether of them where ever sure what to believe. "You heard me, now get out. You are no longer of use to me. Out." Not asking again they pick up and run. Never looking back at the place that had caused them nothing but pain, it had stopped being the manor of their father years ago. Finally stopping at the outskirts of the village, they catch their breath. "Well where do we go now?" her brother murmurs. "Does it matter?" Bethane retorts. "We have no where to go, which means we can go anywhere." Throwing her arms out. "Well then, what way should we go then?" "I don't know." "Well, we'll decide this the easy way then." Her brother says closing his eyes and going around in a circle. "That way." pointing in a random direction. "It's as good as any." she concedes, and they take off. She would be forever marked by the events that had occurred, still trapped by the demons curse, fully reminded of it whenever she gained injury, but at least she now had her freedom. Next |
