| Carson J. Daly, born on June 22, 1973, has been the host of TRL from it's beginning; before it even became a live show. A young DJ from the well known KROQ radio station in California; Carson was hired by Mtv in '97 for a summer job at Mtv's Motel California, but has since become a permanent VJ on Mtv. Carson hosted a show in '97, called Mtv Live, where he talked to celebrities about their upcoming events. He also hosted Total Request which started out as the top 5 requested videos and turned into the top 10 requested videos. This aired on Mtv at night. In '98, at Mtv's New Jersey Summer Share, he hosted Carson Daly, another show where he interviewed celebrities. He also continued to host Total Request, which did better in the afternoon time slot. Once the Mtv vj's returned to the 1515 studios in New York; Mtv Live and Total Request merged into one show to become Total Request Live. In high school Carson played a lot of golf and thought about playing the professional circuit; he even played with the likes of Tiger Woods. At one point in his life, Carson even thought about becoming a priest. Older sister Quinn was 8, and Carson was just 5 when his father died. His mother remarried. (Carson's half brother Stephan Jenkins is lead singer for 3rd Eye Blind.) The 27 year old recently became engaged to 25 year old actress Tara Reid. (UPDATE: The two of them are no longer together.) |
