Our future with dogs

I have always assumed we would have a future with more dogs in it because, frankly, I don't want to be without them in my life. But things have been difficult and we are reticent, which is probably understandable. We are currently researching breeds and places to get dogs. We have always gotten dogs from shelters and believe in that system. We also believe in the responsibility of reputable breeders of purebred dogs. We recommend the following sites as places to learn more about dogs and various breeds. And, it is our fondest hope, that next year we will devote a new page to a new and wonderful dog.

American Kennel Club -- official registrar of all purebred dogs in the United States. They do not certify breeders but care a lot about all breeds' health and integrity.

Westminster Kennel Club - they put on the biggest show in dogdom - every February in Madison Square Garden, broadcast on the USA Network. Root for your favorites and learn about all of the breeds recognized by the AKC.

William Wegman's Site - he takes the best photographs of Weimeraners we have ever seen. These are not just sad-eyed pups but are genuinely wryly amusing images. Check him out!

Humane Society of the United States - find an animal shelter in your area.

Dog Fancy Magazine - best-selling all-breeds magazine. Great tips for dog owners, breed profiles, and readers' photos.
