| The Commendation Medal is a mid-level United States Military Award which is presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service. The Good Conduct Medal is awarded to any enlisted member of the U.S. Military who completes three cosecutive years of "honorable and faithful service". The Good Conduct Medal may also be awarded posthumously, to any soldier killed in the line of duty. The Distinguished Flying Cross is a medal awarded to any officer or enlisted member of the U.S. armed forces who distinguishes himself or herself on combat in support of operations by "heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an arial flight. The Meritorious Service Medal is a military award presented to members of the U.S. armed forces who distinguished themselves by outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement or service to the United States. The Air Medal is awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity on or with the Armed Forces or the U.S., shall have distinguished himself/herself by meritorious achievement while participating in arial flight. The United States Presidential Unit Citation is awarded to units of the Armed Forces of the U.S. and co-belligerent nations for extraordinary heroism in action againts an armed enemy occuring on or after Dec. 7, 1941. The unit must display such gallentry and determination in accomplishing its mission under extremely difficult and hazordous conditions as to set it apart and above other units partisipating in the same campaign. The degree of heroism required is the same as that which would warrant award of a Distinguished Service Cross to an individual. |
