My Work Ethic
Back to index>
Your work ethic is very important.  Whether you have a good work ethic or a poor work ethic will affect your future in your job and in your school.  Employers look for those who have good work ethic.  Employees with poor work ethic often don't last on the job.  I believe a good work ethic consists of being disciplined in doing the work, diligent on getting the work done when needed, paced in how much work you take on at one time, faithful in coming to class or work on time, cheerful about your assignments and duties, being helpful to your teacher or employer, and helping others who need advice, assistance, or just are behind in their work.  Everyone needs to evaluate their work ethic from time to time.  They need to look at how they work to see if they are being a good employee/student.  At this time I believe I have a good work ethic.  I am disciplined, diligent, paced, faithful, cheerful and helpful.  I have a good attitude and do the work without complaint.  I am also willing to take constructive criticism so that I may improve my work.  I mentioned that one needs to be cheerful, but the point on attitude needs to be stressed.  One could do everything the employer asks, turn assignments in early, and do extra work, but if you have a bad attitude  the good things in your work ethic are tarnished.  A good attitude in work ethic consists of not complaining about jobs you don't like, treating those in authority over you with respect, being helpful and polite to co-workers, and treating customers well.  Being rude to customers is one of the quickest ways to get yourself fired.  In conclusion, no one wants employees who have poor work ethic.  Likewise, employees who have really good work ethic will be in great demand.
