Early in life, he was a clerk for the former Lehigh and New England Railroad out of Nazareth and later on he operated the former Werkheiser Atlantic service station in Nazareth for five years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific. He was a member of the Vigilance Hose Company in Nazareth. Elton and Anna had two children:

Before that he was a buyer for Hess's, Allentown, for 13 years, and the former Zollinger's, Allentown, for two years. He was a memeber of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nazareth. He was a 32nd degree Mason in Whitfield Lodge 622, Nazareth. Reynold was a Captain in the U.S.A.F. Gloria was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Truman W. Marsh of Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Reynold and Gloria had two children:
