Brief Biography
Ruth Fogelman was born in England, and came to Jerusalem as a teenager. She served in the IDF, received her first degree in English Literature from the Hebrew University, and her Master's Degree from Bar Ilan's Creative Writing Program. Her poems won both First Place and Honorary Mention in the Reuben Rose Poetry Competition, 2006, and commended winner of the John Reid Traditional Poetry Competition, 2007. Ruth is married to Dr. Ya'akov Fogelman, and they have lived in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem since 1979.
Ruth photographs, writes and lectures about the Jewish Quarter. She has also conducted Writing Tours of the Old City. Her book, Within the Walls of Jerusalem, about present-day life in the Jewish Quarter, was released in 2000.
She is a member of Voices Israel and a facilitator of the Pri Hadash Women's Writing Workshop.
