On this page there are links to current fleet lists of Jersey operators.
Choose between summary or detailed lists.
Simple lists contain fleet number, registration number, chassis type, body type, and seating
capacity. Detailed lists contain the above (with chassis and body types in condensed PSV Circle
form) plus transmission / mechanical information, age, PSV plate number and livery.
They are presented in spotter-friendly format:
No.
Fleet number as appears on each vehicle. None of the fleets now boasts a number 13,
superstition must have a hold on Jersey operators!
Registration
Or number plates, in Jersey consisting of a "J" followed by (up to) five digits.
Chassis
Name of manufacturer and model of chassis.
Coachwork
Bodybuilder's name, and model designation where given.
Seats
Standard format: B = bus, C = coach, F = forward entrance, R = rear entrance, O = open-top.
In the case of double-deck buses, a forward-slash ( / ) separates the upper-deck seating capacity
from that of the lower deck. No attempt has been made to determine standee capacity.
Transmission / Mechanicals
The distinction between manual and automatic has been made owing to the fact that buses are not
necessarily all auto and coaches are not necessarily all clutch-and-stick. No semi-auto buses
operate at present and unless anybody knows otherwise, none have ever done so in the past.
M = manual, A = automatic, E = electric.
In the case of Tantivy Blue Coach Tours, because Blue Coach's fleet of unusual petrol-engined
Bedfords was acquired, and as all the Bedford chassis have manual gearboxes, the engine type is
given instead.
P = petrol, D = diesel, TD = turbocharged diesel.
Year
In which the vehicle was new.
PSV plate
The presence of one of these square white plates on the rear of the vehicle indicates that it
is licensed as a Public Service Vehicle and that the correct licence is required to drive it
irrespective of whether any passengers are being carried. On buses they are marked "Omnibus" and
on coaches, "Char-a-banc". Therefore the numbers duplicate.
Minibuses are numbered in a different series following on from the previous plate system which
dates before 1986 and the plates carried are enamelled metal as opposed to reflective plastic.
To ease the pressure on space in the detailed lists, abbreviations have been used for chassis and body type descriptions. These generally follow those adopted by the PSV Circle. The simple lists contain the full make and model information.
As much correct information as possible has been provided, however there will probably be inaccuracies in amongst the lists. There are also gaps where information is not complete or not confirmed. If anyone knows better, please get in touch!
