I couldn't believe it.
The whole trip out here I was preparing myself to be dumped and instead he pops the question.
Of course that's not the only thing that got popped in the last thirty-six hours I thought with a groan. A complete stranger. I lost my virginity to a complete stranger. A complete stranger who would soon be her brother-in-law. What was wrong with me?
Temporary insanity. That has to be it. There is no other explanation. But do I tell him?
I looked over at him and tried to decide. Look at him. He looks so happy. How can I tell him? What do I say? I thought you were gonna break up with me so I jumped the first cute stranger I saw? No that wouldn't work. What about-
"Honey?"
I looked up.
"Yes."
"It's our turn." He said motioning to the chapel doors.
Wouldn't my parents be proud? Their little girl tying the knot in some cheesy Vegas chapel. Well at least there wasn't an Elvis impersonator. Getting up I followed him and took my place next to him at the altar smoothing out my pink dress one more time. It was the only dress I had brought with me and I would have worn it even if I hadn't lost my virginity last night.
Here we go....
She's beautiful, I thought looking at her as the priest began to speak. He smiled as her eyes skipped away from the priest and landed on him. She smiled in return before turning her attention back to the priest.
"If anyone can show just cause for these two not to be married let them speak now or forever hold their peace." I looked over when I heard her take a sharp breath but then she just smiled and nodded to the father as if to say "Go ahead." I turned my attention to the priest as well.
Whew.
Little to close for my comfort. I half listened to the priest as he spoke. When he got to the vows I snapped to attention.
"And do you Abigail take Alexander to be your lawfully wedded husband? Do you promise to keep only onto him until death do you part?"
"I do." I responded and prayed I could keep that vow.
