| MARTHA RAYE grew up in a vaudeville family and after signing with Paramount, she made her feature film debut in 1936 with Bing Crosby in "Rhythm on the Range". Martha appeared in around 40 movies, numerous television show guest appearances and appeared at night clubs, theaters, and hosted her own television show, "The Martha Raye Show" from 1954 to 1956. She entertained American troops during WWII, the Korean and Vietnam wars and in 1969 she became the first female recipient of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian award. |
