| In the world of Sports Entertainment, Paul Heyman has carved quite a niche during his long career in the industry. He is a man you wish would go away, but also a man every organization needs to have. At some point in time, every major wrestling organization has employed the services of Heyman and he has succeeded at every turn. Now the General Manager of SmackDown! he is expected to enjoy the same success � even if he hears more than a few boos in doing so! Heyman�s claims to fame include being a manager in the old WCW where he formed a stable with the likes of Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, the Freebirds, Bobby Eaton, and others. At one point, he even managed a young Steve Austin, who would later revolutionize the industry as Stone Cold in WWE. Later, Heyman would become the driving force behind ECW, which became renowned for its extreme matches. Several current WWE Superstars got their start in Heyman�s ECW and are still at the top of their game today. By 2000, Heyman was with WWE, first as a television analyst, but later joining forces with his former ECW members as they became the Alliance with Shane McMahon. When Mr. McMahon succeeded in putting ECW and WCW out of business, Heyman was out of the picture for a while, but his contributions to the industry did not stop. Heyman returned to WWE in March 2002 with a revolution of sorts � a young man named Brock Lesnar � who Heyman touted as �The Next Big Thing.� Just a few months later, Lesnar became the youngest WWE Champion in history. Heyman would later manage several major SmackDown! Superstars such as the Big Show and Kurt Angle. Now Heyman is back and motivated to do for SmackDown! what he has always done in this industry�create change and revolutionize the product whether his motives are popular or not. |
