Organization of Faith: Red Cross
The Red Cross was initially a Swiss idea that originated around the time of the Civil War.  Clara Barton heard of this movement while traveling and started the American Red Cross on May 21, 1881.

The Red Cross first provided major aid to the military during and following the Spanish-American War and afterwards spread throughout the rest of the world.

The Red Cross experienced resistance in Europe at first, but, during the first World War, it experienced massive growth.  Its membership grew from around 17,000 to 20 million.

The importance of the Red Cross can easily be seen today, with the world experiencing a tragedy like hurricane Katrina.  The Red Cross is leading the relief efforts by housing many survivors and offering food and water to others.  They're even offering a service to help people find loved ones hurt or displaced by the hurricane.

I chose the Red Cross as my organization of faith because they are always leading efforts to help people hurt by national disasters or war.  The Red Cross doesn't care about a persons nationality, race, or religion.  They realize that all people are equal and all deserve aid when hurt.
