How important is it that Internet news sites tell the truth about wrestling super stars?

Does it matter to us that someone's life and livelihood could be adversely affected when they are lied about?

If we only heard the truth about them would we lose interest in them or in wrestling?

Would you have the courage to stand up and say to the news sites "You're lying!" and back up your statement with the truth?

Do wrestlers even care that they are lied about?  Should we care?

These are questions I've been wondering about this week since I've heard yet another rumor (read LIE here) about Jerry Lynn.  I've been thinking that wrestling news must be pretty damned slow for someone inside of TNA or at the news sites to make up something as malicious and stupid as this:

"One unnamed source in TNA claimed "Jerry Lynn walked around moping all the time like he'd rather be dead than at TNA. He brought the morale down."

Source - PWTorch

I know Jerry Lynn personally and I know that the source in TNA was making this up.  Why?  I can only venture to guess and I won't do that here because I'm all about the truth and most certainly the truth in this column.  It's not a paid for column other than the fact that I pay for this site myself.  I get nothing back from Yahoo or from Jerry so this is just me sticking my neck out in defense of an excellent man who works his behind off for me and all wrestling fans.

My response is this:

How dare YOU repeat a lie about a man who most likely in one way or another helped YOU in the business?  What brought YOU to such a low point that YOU had to make up a lie or repeat it about a man who does whatever he is told to do and doesn't complain?  He doesn't and YOU know it or YOU would if YOU took the time to verify the rumor.  He has been asked to stand up for himself and complain about the lack of work or the kind of work he was told to do at TNA and he refused because he tries to get along with everyone.  He is a company man but when that company keeps him from working and getting paid it's time to leave.  That's all he did and when asked the reason he simply said he wasn't called into tv tapings and as a result he wasn't getting paid.  Did YOU know that he left tv taping days and ppv weekends open in case TNA brought him in?  He did that because he is a loyal employee but by doing so he was also not able to schedule indy shows meaning, in case YOU need it spelled out, he didn't get paid from TNA or from an indy promotion!  How much do YOU have to take away from the man to be satisfied?

YOU may wonder why I'd stand up in the defense of a man I'm not related to as if he were more to me than a wrestler?  It's because he is more to me than a wrestler.  First off, he's a damn good wrestler and one of the best in the world!  Second, he is my friend.  If someone is my friend I will go to the ends of the earth to help them or just be there for them if that's what they need from me.  Jerry has not asked me to do anything.  He simply told me about the above rumor and said it wasn't true.  I knew it wasn't true before he said that but that's because, unlike YOU, I am a friend to Jerry.  It's too bad that YOU had to tarnish a man's reputation when he has always treated people like YOU like a friend.  YOU knew didn't YOU, that when others, i.e., promoters saw the lie that they might buy into it making it more difficult for Jerry to find work now that he has left TNA.  Know this that he will still find work.  YOU have not succeeded in keeping him from standing tall in the wrestling world because fans everywhere want Jerry to come to their town.

Jerry never said this to me because he is a true gentleman, but
I personally hope  that it's a public humiliation for YOU when it comes out that YOU either made up or repeated this lie to make another man look bad.  A man who is one of the finest people to walk this earth.  I know this because I have taken the time to know the truth about Jerry, unlike YOU!
