Jerry Calcott Ministries A note from Pastor Jerry for those preparing for a funeral or memorial service.

Someone precious is gone. Pain is inescapable at this moment, however; the funeral or memorial service does not have to be one of those painful moments you must endure. It should be a gathering of loved ones for mutual support, a time of comfort, and in its own way a celebration. Not a celebration of death, but a celebration of a life. A life that in some very special way touched you, and all who will be present at the service. Such a celebration should not deny your pain, but be an affirmation of a great treasure now gone. By encouraging family members, as they wish, to take part in the planning - and should they desire the service itself - the objective is to pay a fitting tribute in a manner and setting that will provide the greatest comfort and care for those who have been left behind. In the end your memories should not be a hindrance that holds you back. Instead they should become the inspirations that moves you forward. When this happens, the impact of a person's life does not end with their death, but moves forward beyond the grave through the memories that inspire others. The funeral or memorial service is a place for this process to begin and to be nurtured. Should you have questions, or desire my assistance in preparing for or in conducting a service, I would be honored to assist you. Such is the deepest calling of ministry. By phone you, or your funeral director can reach me 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 210-313-0412, email [email protected]

My Background As a child I grew up in the funeral business. As an adult I have conducted funeral services as an ordained Pastor and Missionary in several states, in many cultures, in two countries, and in denominational and non denominational settings.

Before the Service As much they wish a family should be engaged in the planning of the service. This starts the process of turning memories into inspirations that move us forward.

The Service Each service will be unique according to the families' wishes. Some will reflect the rich traditions of "the Church", others will be more contemporary and personalized, and many will reflect both.

What about the Children? A common question where children are involved. Currently my ministry involves research and teaching in the area of ministry to children during times of crisis. From my experience as an international specialist in this area, I can offer special guidance and assistance in answering questions as to how a family can meet the specific and individual needs of each child involved.

Fees There are no fees for my services, but voluntary contributions within a family's abilities are appreciated. Each conribution is used as a memorial to support my continued work with children in crisis.
