Jerome
Shaw - Photographer/Travel Writer
Jeromes interest
in photography came to him early in life
when at 12 his brother brought home a
35 mm camera from college. His interest
blossomed into his first commercial assignment
a few years later when a local Appaloosa
breeder hired him to catalog his herd.
Interest became avocation during
his study of Art at the University
of Nebraska and it finally surfaced
as his vocation after moving
to Aspen, Colorado in 1977.
Jerome moved into commercial
photography when he began to
photograph skiing and other
adventure sports for local companies
and eventually for national
and international clients such
as Rossignol, Fila Sport,
Raven Industries, and
The North Face.
Jeromes love
of travel began in the early 80s when
he began working on adventure travel films.
His first major travel assignment was
for Frontier Airlines when he photographed
several locations in Mexico for the airline.
Shortly after that he began working on
a television series for the Discovery
Channel hosted by Sir Edmund
Hillary. During the course of the working
on the segments for this program Jerome
traveled to Peru, Greece, Alaska, and
New Zealand.
The
combination of adventure and
travel would become Jeromes
main subject matter over the
next several years during which
time he lived in New Zealand.
His client list ranges from
Ski and Camping Manufactures,
Tourism Bureaus and Outdoor
Clothing Companies to Airlines,
Hotels, and Travel & Tour
Operators.
