Who Am I ?
Janet is an innovative and ambitious undergraduate at
Western Washington University
and a member of the
Golden Key Honour Society.
Her background is primarily in the counseling and service arena. Realizing the significance of multi ~ culturalism and diversity, she has made it a goal to broaden her awareness and expertise by working in social services with a wide range of clientele.
Janet served as a program coordinator for a senior volunteer program with a non-profit agency. She has also been through training in victim sexual assault advocacy, as well as planned parent advocacy, where she has learned crisis intervention. She has also had the opportunity to work with adults with dis~Abilites through her volunteer and work in mental health counseling. Her most recent endeavors include integrating the educational component with her established counseling skills by working with students and by developing a peer mentor program for BBCC Student Support Services.
As a team player and creative problem solver, Janet possesses strong "people skills" with experience in high stress environments. She is motivated and has sound working knowledge of Human Services agencies, their
infrastructure and system's theory. Janet wishes to work as an educator that provides high integrity service in a team-based setting.
Janet will graduate from
Western Washington University
Spring ~ 2003 with a BA degree in Human Services. Janet plans to continue her education by pursuing a
M Ed. Degree at Heritage College.
