Dixie Clonts
Dixie Carolyn (Dixson) Clonts is the daughter of Lawrence Columbus and Mary Jo
(Jernigan) Dixson. Dixie is the grand daughter of Benjamin Harrison Jernigan, and great granddaughter of John Jackson
Jernigan. She is our immediate Jernigan family researcher and lives in Gilbert, Arizona, with her husband,
Franklin Dewayne Clonts. Dixie has four children; Debra Jo Lane, Jacque Carolyn Holladay, James Franklin
Clonts, and Patti Jean Kinkade. At last count we had lost count of her
grand and great-grandchildren.
Don Jernigan
Donald Keith Jernigan is the son of Melvin Ben and
Eunice Marie (Ivey) Jernigan, grandson of Richard George Lester (Judge) Jernigan, and great-grandson of John Jackson
Jernigan. Don is our Jernigan Connection webmaster living in Plano, Texas,
with his wife, Mae Jane (Frost) Jernigan. Don and Jane have two sons: Thomas Keith Jernigan and David Ben
Jernigan; two grandchildren: Jami Renee Jernigan and Thomas Keith Jernigan, Jr.
Jernigan Relationships
While Dixie and Don's immediate family relationships merge with
John Jackson Jernigan, it is more well known as the Samuel and Rachel (Hand)
Jernigan Line. Until recently, the research of the line failed to identify the
proper ancestors of Samuel. It is now concluded that Samuel's father was
David, whose father was Jesse, which finally links us directly to the Immigrant
Thomas Jernigan through his son, John.
