Restaurant & Bar Review:

Restaurants:

Le Poeme: A Corsican restaurant - don't know of any other in the city. Home style cooking. Definately recommend the Corsican Chicken dish - chicken cooked tenderly in a stew, served with white rice and vegetables. Try a banana nutella crepe for dessert. Entrees are on average $14. Crepes are $5 - $6. Cute and rustic. B+ (Julie)

Hamachi: Japanese restaurant - 34 East 20th Street, between Broadway and Park Avenue South (212) 420-8608. High-quality fish at moderate Prices. A must try - ebi tempura roll & spicy tuna roll. B+ (Julie)

Bay Leaf: Indian restaurant - 56th Street between 5th avenue and 6th avenue. THE BEST DARN INDIAN FOOD I'VE EVER HAD!! A++++++. (Linnet, of course)

Bars:

Radio Perfecto - 190 Avenue B (between 11th and 12th Street) American fare at great prices. Katie and I shared an appetizer, she had a burger with fries and a side of sweet plaintains, I had a 1/2 roast chicken with pesto sauce with amazing garlic mash potatoes and the total was $35 not including tip. Definitely a place to check out. (3 1/2 stars) ~Julie

Cafe Habana - on the corner of Spring and Elizabeth A little taste of Cuba. The restaurant is on the corner and next door (on Elizabeth Street), is the cafe/take out. Prices are amazing. Huge plate of rice and beans for $4, a huge side of sweet plaintains for $2.50, and delicious homemade lemonade for $2. A must try is their $1.75 corn on the cob, with spice and cheese on top. (4 1/2 stars) ~Julie

Local 138: 138 Ludlow Street = English/Scottish pub. Good prices ($4-$7 drinks) - low key atmosphere, simple wood furnishings. Friendly bartenders. Lots of Brits at this hangout. If you're craving a snakebite, this is the place to get it. Introduced by Jenn Foo's friend, Tara. A (Julie)

Tequilaville: corner of 49th and 7th avenue. They have Tequiza. Nuff said. A (Jeremy)

Red Lion: Bleeker Street (A block or two west of Broadway). Best chicken fingers I've ever tasted. Although, they don't always have 'em. Just your typical Irish pub, with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Live music, but very low-key. (mostly a guy with a guitar singing sad songs type of thing). The place Jeremy and I had our first date. Must be good, eh? B+ (Linnet)
