Desert wildflowers
After a good rainy season like we had this winter, the desert blooms with blankets of wildflowers.  Here in the Antelope Valley, the most famous flowers are the California Poppies.  The blooms are celebrated with the annual Antelope Valley Poppy Festival, not to be confused with the annual Antelope Valley Fair and Alfalfa Festival which is held every August.  Oh, and there are no more antelopes left in the Antelope Valley.
Here's a close up of the poppies.
The hillsides around the valley are carpeted with orange, yellow and purple.  It is very surreal looking.
This is a hillside of mustard flowers.  This is a hill near our house; we live in the valley below.  The Tehachapi Mountains are off in the distance.
This is our 1968 Pontiac Firebird.  It was fun to drive around this last Spring with the top off looking at all the flowers on the hillsides.
