| THE BUILDING! | ||||||||||
| OK, so everyone is probably sick of hearing about the workshop we are building but not as sick of it as we are building it! Actually, this will be a very nice work shop for Jerry when ever it is actually finished. The shop will be 30 X 60feet and 20 feet high. Jerry has lots of woodworking and metal shop machinery to put in there. We spent most of 2003 building the foundation and erecting the steel walls. Soon, it should have end walls, electricity, etc to make it fully functional. Here are some photos from start to...well not quite finished. |

| In January 2003 we had 1 and 1/2 truck loads of cement delivered and poured to create a foundation for the steel walls to sit on as well as for the pilings. The floor itself is raised to the level of a pick up truck bed. The floor will sit on these railroad bridge beams that were left over from the previous owner of our property. | ||||||||||
| The next step was to build a pony wall; this is what the steel arches will be built upon. | ||||||||||

| On 23 June 2003 we put up the first of 30 steel arches. | ||||||||||
| Jerry then built some scaffolding so we can get up high enough to put up the arches. This scaffolding is movable with a winch. | ||||||||||

| We slowly made progress with the arches as the summer progressed. Nothing like working with heavy pieces of steel in the desert in the middle of the summer! | ||||||||||

| We got some help with the arches before we burned out all our friends on this project! Thank you Tony, Jose, and especially Keith! | ||||||||||
| On 5 October 2003 we put up the last arch. 30 arches of 7 pieces each. More than 5600 bolts! | ||||||||||
