Our Place |

We have been out here in the Mojave Desert since January 2001. We like where we live; it's very serene with only a few neighbours. From our yard you can see miles to the San Bernardino Mountains in the south and the Tehachapi windmills and mountains to the west. At night, the sunsets are gorgeous and the sky turns many colours as the sounds of birdsongs fill the evening sky. |

These photos were taken in Spring 2002 so there has been some changes; particularly with Jerry's building! |

Here is 55th Street West at our property line (on the left). A lot of the streets here have joshua trees in the middle of them! |

We have five acres fenced into two sections. We keep the area around the house well cleared of brush; the other half of the property is in the right side of this picture. |

Beyond the lawn is the desert. The hill in the background is an old silver mine. |

These are some of the trees that surround our house. With the trees, lawn and garden it does not feel quite like the Mojave Desert when you walk out. |

These are hex signs. They are painted on farm buildings in the Pennsylvania Dutch country for good fortune, weather, fertility, good crops, etc. |

Here is a photo from when we were first laying out the workshop. The former owner worked for the railroad and left behind some nice railroad bridge beams that we used to build a raised floor. |
