What is flamenco guitar?

A vibrant, exciting style of playing from Southern Spain which uses all the fingers of both hands to produce rich and beautiful musical effects. Rhythm (compás) and force of expression are extremely important in flamenco. This is because the flamenco guitar has its roots in the accompaniment of song (cante) and dance (baile), and the solo flamenco guitar evolved out of this rhythmically rich background.
