What more can I say? I hate the vines. Probably not more than I hate the white stripes, but I frankly don't care because that's neither here nor there. It's odd but it seems that I have a natural hate for bands that names begin with the word the up to and including the vines, the white stripes, the strokes, the hives (every band mentioned on th video for still waiting by Sum 41, and yes I do know that The Offspring begin with the word "the" but most of the time they are just known as "Offspring" so it doesn't count. Leave me alone). The vines are just awful to me and I don't care how many songs by them I hear, they're still going to be the same old bullshit to me. First off I was pissed off when I was told that the dipshit lead singer Craig Nichols (Yes I know his name because my friend crammed a shit load of the vines info down my throat) dropped out of school in grade ten to smoke weed and work at McDonalds. Then he goes and works to become a rich rock star and nobody has a problem with the fact that he's got the intelligence of a rock? I know that not everyone is book smart but may be street smart and has common sense so the fact that they dropped out of school doesn't mean they're stupid, but look at it this way; if you spend all of your time getting stoned, playing guitar and land a prestigious job at McDonalds then doesn't that usually hint that the person is an idiot? I'm totally against people who drop out of school and I say that if you don't even have a diploma for highschool then you don't deserve to be rich and famous. Give the fame to us who at least had the intellect and perseverence to make it through the full twelve years.
The first song that I heard by the vines (sat down and actually listened to) was that shitty song "Ride" off of their second album and I have to say that it was the shittiest, most simple song I've heard. I heard it once and know how to play it on guitar, and the song still sounds like shit. If the song sounded like shit and actually had difficult guitaring, maybe I'd not hate them to the full extent, but come on people, this is just pitiful. The singing is bland and painful to listen to, set at a monotone pace, and the lead singer looks like he's going to fall down at any minute. Not to mention that the lyrics for the chorus seems to have been written by a three year old (Ride with me, ride with me, ride with me home. You'd think a guy on marijuana would be able to come up with something a little more creative than this). All this and yet they still sound like shit. Who the hell signed them up? the same idiots who signed up the yeah yeah yeah's? (I heard them once...which was also the last time). Also it seems their live performances suck. At one show in Australia the bassist got pissed at Craig for being an idiot (He was calling his fans a bunch of fucking cunts and sheep, good job idiot, they'll love you now) and walked off the stage in the middle of a show. These idiots have no respect from me in a musical/talent aspect. What's worse is how this guy managed to make it anywhere when everytime I've seen him he looks like he's ready to pass out. How did this guy make it anywhere when he only looks semi-conscience? Un-fucking-believable.
I hate these new bands that are coming out and try to recreate the original classic 60's/70's rock and make it sound totally shitty like the no talent uncreative losers they are (that includes you jet). Get lost you morons. The sixties and seventies are dead and the music is nothing more than history. Stop trying to be revolutionary and soiling the name of great bands like Queen, Cream etc. You don't sound like them, you are not them, and you have to stop thinking that you can bring it back to life. The vines are probably the biggest perpetrators of this. I had to listen to their whole album once (against my will...I was in a moving vehicle and it was all there was...although now I regret not opening the door and jumping out into the road) and I swear to god it was like listening to a shitty version of the beatles. They weren't punk, they weren't good, they weren't anything. This album probably isn't even a decent coaster. Do the world a favor and if you're going to listen to the vines, download and burn the whole album so they can't get any royalties. I'm tired of shitty music.
